I just started using a straight razor and I find i get a better shave with just water. Put a warm towel on my face first and I never get any razor burn or cuts.Yeah iirc like straight razors were easily the majority of users like 70 yrs ago ....
This isn't like tough guy bs or whatever either, I bought gel fully expecting to use it but it just got in the way.
