I only really know his old material. I saw him way back in the day on Def Comedy Jam and his short set was really good. I love his first HBO 1 hour special Killing Them Softly. It ranks right up there with the best of them.

And there are numerous episodes and skits from his Comedy Central show that were absolutely hilarious. It was a great sketch comedy show.

But Def Comedy Jam was 30+ years ago. His HBO standup special was roughly 25 years go and his sketch comedy show was basically about 20 years ago.

I have heard the complaints about him now but have only seen a couple random youtube clips. I haven't seen a full special because I don't have Netflix. From what little I have seen of him now he is much different and his style is more of a conversation and talking compared to before where it felt like a bit and a punchline.

I can't speak too much on it because again I haven't seen a full special of his in a long time. But I can say I will still watch his old material and still laugh and think it was quite good.

Eh. A few years back, I watched a couple of his specials in chronological order over the course of a couple days, and the first few were still pretty funny, but the most recent (at the time) was pretty terrible, just, like, 80% him bitching about the trans community in a format I would hesitate to even call stand-up comedy. I don't know if it's because he's less funny than he used to be, or if he's just lost the thread on what a stand-up special is supposed to be and doesn't get that no one wants that because it really didn't even seem like comedy.
Thus I became a madman.

As someone who watched it, I think I chuckled twice during that special. That's after laughing pretty hard at the other Netflix ones.

It was a very bad special that wasn't that funny. He's basically doubled and tripled down since, making his work even more unfunny.

"So I start speed bagging those titties" Not really funny. Pretty archaic humor comedy wise tbqh. It's as if he was trying to be offensive and gave us whatever that shit was.

I mean he got booted off the easiest job in the world (literally just had to show up on set and be himself) because he was too difficult and unreliable to work with. I can't imagine anyone wants to work with him after that.

They did a 1 season deal that if it was renewed, they'd do 100 episodes.

He's had some one off appearances here and there since then. He was mostly recently a recurring cameo in The Bookie about a sports bookie.

Best comedian still crushes but wish he stop the trans jokes(they aren't even funny to me seems like he doing them just cuz they going in on him?) and go back to making fun off every race including himself n celebrities... there's a reason he takes your phone at his shows
