I'm ready to upgrade ('14 Charger) but I can't find anything more modern that doesn't have a tablet built into it. The Charger has one, and I don't like it at all, hated it from day one. The temperature controls are on it, media controls are on it (yet no media controls on the steering??). I don't want to play with a touchscreen while I'm driving. I want to goddamn drive while I'm driving. Give me buttons.

elon musk is the meme you need
My last car had a mode where could shut off ever display except the speedometer.I feel like I'd want at least a little more information on my dash.

Give me buttons. My wife drives a Mazda and it has a little knob in the center console right by the arm rest that is used to control the screen instead of the touch screen
I didn't want to make a topic just to post a video w/ most of my gripes about modern car design hilariously covered (plus a solid 1/2 of it dedicated just to shitting on the Cyber Truck), but since this topic now exists, enjoy!

If they literally just put an iPad into the cars they would be better than the shitty infotainment systems they build for these things. Keep all of the controls handily available on the steering wheel and column. Boom. That's all you need.Exactly, Tesla literally did put an iPad Pro powered by a gaming PC thats every bit as responsive as your phone with customizable wheel button controls.
Sums up so many of my thoughts.Glad someone enjoyed it

spins to cycle through, goes up/down left/right like a joystick, and clicks to select
its pretty nifty; definitely helps keep you from getting distracted by a touch screen
I don't get that pic. Is a CUV/SUV not supposed to be shaped like one. The only thing you could do to change the shape and make it not look completelly dumb is to have a vertical rear to make it look like a minivan
The point is, they all look dumb. Also, can anyone tell me when in time did a Dodge look like a Mercedes that looks like a Volkswagen that looks like a Lincoln that looks like a Porsche that looks like a Dodge?
I found this one on reddit. Does this work for you, TC?Uggghhhh that second one is so painful to look at... goddamn it.

I thought this topic was going to be about the embiggening of cars
It confounds me how touchscreens in cars are still legal. I guess we just haven't had enough people die in touchscreen-related distracted driving accidents to force companies to stop including them.
Not complete without borderline illegal headlights that blind everyone else on the roadThus is one if the biggest problems that needs addressing. I drive at night often, and the amount of times I get blinded by some SUV in my rear view is infuriating. For some reason, there are manufacturers that switched from the dull yellow headlights to searing white/blue.
really hate the weird shifter thing that some cars have. had a rental where you pushed forward for reverse, back for drive, then the button on the top for park. more than once i'd try to park and my muscle memory would throw it into reverse because moving the shifter all the way forward for every single other car puts it into park
BTW, what is that seashell-shaped thing in that same pic? A motorcycle engine?
In the middle? I think it's a spare tire (the image is complaining about cars that lack a spare). My car has run-flats instead of a spare, which would be great, except they seem to be made of tissue paper, and need to be replaced way more often than for my previous cars.
No, not that pic. The 2nd pic in one of my previous posts. The seashell-shaped thing in the upper middle in that image. That's a turbocharger, I think.

Formerly just for sports cars, they are now turning up everywhere. Allows small engines to make competitive power, but require higher (expensive) grades of gas and introduce a new failure point.
