In addition, users may not post any content that:

Discusses how to cheat, exploit, or otherwise violate the rules of competitive online games
For example, would it have been against TOS to discuss launching stickybombs into the other team's spawn through poorly coded door collision boxes in TF2 before that was patched out?

Rules say they were last updated April 26

I'm not positive, but I would imagine it is. I think you can talk about the exploit itself, but you can't explain how to do it. So in your example, you could say that there's an exploit that let you launch sticky bombs into the enemy's spawn, but you can't explain how you would do that.

I've definitely had posts deleted years ago when discussing them.
I think it was one of those gray zones.
Like we could mention it if we talked about glitches, but we could not make a topic asking how to exploit the game itself.

Yeah, it definitely has been against the TOU for some time now, if not always.

Just out of curiosity, may I ask what game it was?
I do drawings and stuff

For online games, yeah, it's always been against the ToU. For single-player games, it has never been against the ToU.
Yeah, I don't believe this is new. I've certainly seen people modded for this kind of thing for years.

This.

In-game bugs that didn't affect things like personal info or "premium currency" always seemed fine, but exploits involving third party software were always a no-go.

Yeah. I remember seeing some posts getting modded in 2006 when Pokemon DP was released before the mods realized it was actually a community problem.

I feel like it makes sense.

Cheating in an online competitive game means you're likely doing something you shouldn't be doing at the expense of somebody else's enjoyment.

Things like BxR and OMA Noob tubes should have been patched.

This site definitely has game genie and gameshark codes on it. Those weren't an issue.

Yeah, it's definitely been there and maybe I've just skirted around it somehow.
Not using an actual game as an example, but it probably exists somewhere.

Explaining to someone that's confused as to why they're getting destroyed in a game is due to an exploit that causes immunity would be fine.

However, if you were to also include that it's by shoving an oil drum into a pillar, while holding B until you clip through the wall. Then it'd be moddable, as now you're spreading how to do it to on-lookers, who will only spread its use.

Call of Duty boards had constant moderations for it back when those boards were popular

I can't wait until discussions in real life can be a breach of ToS somewhere that you signed away.

I dont think anyone could condone this as "free speech" or free spreading of information. It's a perfect example for any gamer.

Will it still happen, yes (but it can be lessened). But gamefaqs shouldn't host exploits to delete other people's save files.
