Crabs trigger a similar response as spiders to me.lol I'm looking at the screenshots and they look pretty similar so I could see how that happens.

I've seen this in another game, maybe Dragon Age Origins?
I only ever touched one Skyrim mod and that was a player-owned housing mod before Hearthwhatever came out and it was a million times more interesting than the official DLC.
The name arachnophobia mode made me think they were going to make a mode with tons of spiders :<I mean, you're not far off. One of the new zones is the underground kingdom of Azjol-Nerub which is home to the spider-people. Hence the webbing:
Lethal Company's arachnophobia mode is still the best. It replaces the spider model with the word 'SPIDER'That's fucking awesome

Where's the agoraphobia mode? The fear of leaving your house and talking to other people?
tbh this is the kind of accessibility that makes sense, making sure people with real phobia can enjoy their gamesThey're not real spiders, come on.
They're not real spiders, come on.Some people are freaked out by stuff like this.

What was the difference?I don't remember *all* the details any more, but from what I remember, the property was built on a river and you had to do some miniquests and collect resources to build it out. Most or all of it was outdoors so you didn't have to go through a loading screen and you could enjoy nature. And there were scripted random events where people would come to visit you, sometimes to trade, sometimes to try to turn you into a vampire.
I just genuinely dont believe anyones fear of spiders is severe enough to justify this.
Stop being a fucking baby.
Somehow, I think this is just gonna cause people to develop an additional fear of crabs.
uhhhThey're not. Markrura are kind of goofy looking
giant crab nerubian things sound way scarier than spiders
eh, i also don't think arachnophobia is real. much like trypophobia, submechanophobia, megalophobia, thalassaphobia, coulrophobia, etc, i think these are social phenomena exacerbated by media, internet culture, videos and pics meant to deliberately creep you out or shock you, and people tend to glom onto these things and wear them like fun badges

congratulations on realizing that phobias are irrational

Hey at least crabs are tasty
Crabs trigger a similar response as spiders to me.I was about to say, like I feel like crabs would largely tick the same boxes for someone afraid of spiders. But of course looking at phobias rationally is futile by definition.

Making them crabs instead of pretty much anything else feels like wasted effort. You ever see that photo of the coconut crab on the garbage can? It's practically a giant spider.
...Do you think arachnophobia didn't exist before the internet?i didn't say it created it, i said it exacerbates it. to me, a fear of spiders is rational, to a degree. i mean, no one wants to get bitten, stung, etc, and injected with venom. that's an evolutionary thing. i think people just tend to blow it out of proportion. kill it with fire, burn the house down, etc. and then when it reaches the point where people can't even bear to witness the digital facsimile of a spider on their screen, it's just a little ridiculous to me. like people would rather flip shit and play into some kind of spider fear meme (the actual scientific definition) instead of just educate themselves about spiders
