I've been waiting for the DLC to drop so I can do my hard mode playthrough and get the platinum
Remember when FF16 was supposed to be complete day 1
It was? I think the complete comments were more to confront XVs shortcomings and barrage of DLCs trying to fixThe comments were to assure people that they could buy it day 1 and not regret missing out on the complete game. Then instead of a day 1 patch it gets a month 10 patch. And they wonder why people stop buying their games on day 1.

If this doesn't change or expand upon the ending then I have no desire to buy it.They've said it won't but I find that hard to believe just based on the general premise of this DLC, plus the main antagonist of the main game being part of the DLC and the little clip at the end of the trailer showing Clive with a new form
Wow they really buffed Bahamut's abilities.Yeah the changes seem kinda nuts. It was a nice risk/reward ability that wasn't bad at all in Ultimaniac or against aggressive enemies since the dodge charged it so fast. I'm looking forward to the buffs to Ramuh's Eikonic Feat because damn was that the most disappointing Shotlock I've experienced in a Square Enix game.
Unfortunately they didn't implement my biggest wish, which is auto cooldown of abilities once out of combat.I imagine they never considered that because of Arcade mode. Did you end up using more than one of the "ultimate"/long cooldown abilities? I used to use two but cut down to one or none because of the constant cinematics during battles <_<
I want to replay the game in full, but I can't decide if I want to play the DLC and then do NG+ so I can fully appreciate the Leviathan abilities, or just do NG+ and do the DLC at the endDo the DLC, then NG+ with Leviathan abilities, and then Ultimaniac difficulty after you're done with Final Fantasy difficulty imo.
Remember when FF16 was supposed to be complete day 1These are all just QoL features and balancing adjustments based on feedback + fun extras. The game was complete day 1.
People really want to hate this game for some reason.

Mostly though I wanted that feature because I would use Phoenix to blitz passed the trash mobs I didn't want to fight, and having to wait 2 minutes or whatever it was to do it again was a huge PITA.
Needing to patch in fixes and cutscenes means you're lyingSeems like you do t understand the concept of a complete story.

People really want to hate this game for some reason.Because FF games have increasingly been criticized by traditional fans as drifting away from turn-based combat, and XVI is the furthest away from having traditional RPG elements.

I think it's a very good game, but most of the standard role-playing mechanics - like leveling and equipment - are superficial at best.
I mean, it took some pretty hard departures from the series in general, and many of the RPG elements were sadly lacking. Definitely doesn't deserve the level of hate it gets, but at least I understand where it's coming from.
Absolutely deserved it's review score, though. Game was very good, just with some flaws is all.
Rebirth destroyed any chance of FF16 DLC being relevant.I will say, my main gripe with Rebirth is the same as with XVI: the sidequests start to drag best the end.

If anything, the sidequests in XVI were more satisfying because they added to the story, compared to Rebirth's.
Do you think XVI's sidequests didn't have character interactions? This. You have to force yourself to do those quests in both games, but the pay off in XVI is a lot better. I stopped playing Rebirth weeks ago after doing Stamp quest, now I can't find the motivation to go back lol
I'd put the sidequests in roughly the same tier as far as quality with XVI being a little better. Only that there was less side content overall in XVI than Rebirth, which honestly is a great thing. There's too fucking much side garbage in Rebirth.
Don't care until they port it to a real system.*eyeroll*

A lot of people claim my criticism of the game equate to "hate". It was lacking in rpg elements, being action is fine, but why does Trial of mana, a niche game remake got party members and not a high budget game.
Also the writing in the side quests late game was good, the gameplay part was incredibly boring in most side quests. Yakuza like a dragon and Infinite wealth have fairly simple side quests, but I don't remember getting bored in side quests. I was so disapointed when I got Cid and he was not playable. Cid, Joshua, Jill and Dion and maybe even nest bro Gav should have been playable characters
If I hated the game, I would not have finished it
I beat the main part in the DLC. The Leviathan fight was harder than I expected on Final Fantasy difficulty. Like I have the platinum, did every Eikon fight on both NG and the NG+ difficulty, but I never died during an Eikon fight until Leviathan. Fun times, and nice music.
Isn't under 5 hours the typical length for story driven dlc?

I think there's a lot of criticism that is valid, but in some cases I feel like people's memory of JRPGs doesn't really line up with the genre. For example: complaints around weapons and armor being "just stats bonuses." This is true, but in nearly every classic JRPG that's exactly what it always was. You reach the latest town and you go to the weapon/armor shop and you buy everything because it's newer than what you have and thus better. MAYBE some secret endgame weapons had special effects, but in general that's how it always was. So when people say "the weapons are just stat upgrades" in regard to 16 not being a "real" JRPG I'm just left wondering how when that's exactly how nearly every other JRPG does it.
