Adding new characters, as long as they are arguably relevant, is fine. It's when they reinvent them or add them to be PC that I get annoyed.

Disney has been aggressively pursuing diversity in their films for a while now. If you're ok with it when it's nonwhites you need to be ok with it when it's whites.
I don't care so long as he's not a focus. I'd need to see the film first.

This movie needs more Rob Schneider in brown paint playing a middle eastern person.
The only fool bigger than the person who knows it all is the person who argues with him. They're all complacent sheeple. Passion fights, but reason wins.
The outrage is silly. If anything, they should be HAPPY about it since they're adding the white guy as a villain which advances their "white people are evil" narrative.

It seems kinda of out of place to have a white person in that setting, but I'm more concerned about the idea of adding this character at all than with his race. Nothing about the story demands that Jasmine has a competing love interest, nor do I see any way for that to improve it. Why would they even consider this change?

I am just pissed they added him in for no reason except to say they have a white character lol Love interest at that. It wasn't required at all. Jaffar was the one that wanted to have her. He was the love interest rival. Guess it come off as too much of a pedo if they did that. But i am no longer excited for this movie. I am now worried about where they are gonna take it. He better be a super minor character.
Edit: Oh snap, maybe he might be a replacement for jafar's lacky. I would actually be cool with that. Especially if he dies in the tigers mouth.

I did think it was odd but I'm not entirely against it. Princes come from far and wide to try to marry Jasmine right? Wouldn't be that weird for one to come from Europe in my opinion. So it could make sense from a story perspective. As long as they don't focus a shit ton of time on him I'm okay with it.

While I don't see why he was even added to the story or why there needs to be a rival, you technically can't whitewash a character that wasn't written for a specific race. As someone said, Princes can come from far and wide. Pretty sure when Aladdin first shows up as a prince, he was doing so when other princes were vying for her and making the Sulton offers with money, jewelry, land and other things.
Aladdin is supposed to be Chinese anyway.

If the name of the character is anything to go by, this "Prince Anders" is probably supposed to be white, so I don't see anything wrong with it. If it had been Aladdin himself, that would've been another matter, I guess (unless they're transposing the whole premise in the West or something).

Are these people forgetting that "the middle east" is literally connected to europe by land. Why wouldn't a white prince be able to travel there. The whole point was that they were trying to get royals from as far off as possible as Jasmine would run every single one of them off.

What canon? The 1992 animated movie? The original story from One Thousand and One Nights? Hell, Disney's take on it isn't even the earliest animated adaptation. There's been dozens of different versions.
