Just as PO said. Tips should never make up someones wage. The employer should pay that.We have a national minimum wage so most jobs offer that as bare minimum no matter what sector you work in. The only exception is voluntary work as far as I know. This probably explains why the British are not knows to tip. I've only gave a tip when in Poland and that wasn't much at all. I just find it odd that only the hospitality sector seems to be tip heavy. I mean I don't here anything about retail staff for example getting tips.
