Probably 8 hours or so. It would have been either Phantasy Star Online on Dreamcast or Gamecube, or Dragon Quest VIII on PS2 back in the mid-2000s. Definitely don't do anything like that anymore.

I have multiple 24 hour game sessions back during maximum addiction to phantasy star online. The original dreamcast version, when version 2 came out, gamecube episode 1 and 2, and then I did it again on the xbox version of episode 1 and 2.

The gamecube version I went absolutely nuts on though......this was back when my household first got DSL broadband, and so I was no longer held back by phone calls knocking me off the internet like dial-up did. My family used to own this real tiny TV that was setup on the kitchen counter. To the opposite side of the counter was the area where my dad's PC with the modem was set up at. What I used to do was hook up my gamecube to that small TV on the counter and then game on that, and at night when everyone else was going to sleep I would cut on the bigger TV in the PC+modem area to watch adult swim at the same time I'm playing the game. My brother bought his own gamecube w/ a PSO copy and came back to crash at the house for awhile, so some nights we'd have both the gamecubes hooked up and would play online with our friend group.

I friggin' loved those days/nights and wish I could do it all over, lol. Met some amazing friends including some life-long friends thanks to gamecube PSO
I played sooooooo much PSO back in the day. Ive got 10 memory cards for GC just to have more characters. There was one weekend back in college where we started drinking and playing PSO on a Thursday. Kept going when we woke up Friday, went to a party that night, came back for more drinks and PSO, then did the same thing Saturday (party included), and then kept playing and drinking on Sunday. It was a damn good weekend and I miss simple times like that.

Yeah I was like 20 and 21 going to a community college and ain't had shit to do for most of the day since I opted to do night classes. It was so fun. Everything from the games of the era (I definitely got my smash melee on), the shows I used to watch (space ghost coast to coast, brak show, sealab 2021, harvey birdman, aqua teen hunger force, cowboy bebop, yu yu hakusho and inuyasha's opening and ending themes will forever be in my head because of how much adult swim I would let play while I'm gaming), the movies, etc. The early 2000s got a lot of nostalgia for. Probably more-so than the 90s, and I had a good childhood with a lot of memorable 90s stuff.

Even if I wanted to try to pull those old marathons, my body can't do it lmfao. I get tired way too easily nowadays. My medication is knocking me out at some point whether I like it or not.

I remember the night when FF7 rebirth dropped, and I love me some FF7 remake-verse so I fullly intended to be on that game all day on it's launch. Man I fell asleep at like 5 am that night.

Were incredibly similar. YYH is my all time favorite anime. I named my recent puppy Harvey Birdman.

Probably around 14-16ish hours I'd guess? When I was in my early 20's I was funemployed with money in the bank so I'd wake up around 10am, then start playing wow, not stopping until I'd go to bed around 2am. I'd take lunch/dinner breaks and washroom but other then that it was 100% WoW time.

Like 60 or so playing on a weekend back when I was in college. I think I was averaging like 12-19 hours a day depending on if I had school that day back then.

Nowadays I'm a responsible working adult though, so I only play like 4 hours a day, 12ish on weekends.

Oh it was uncharted waters new horizons.
In 1994 had some free time. 3 days. Yes 3 days. Bathroom break only, food was brought to me. So at most 5 min breaks maybe 3 times a day.

I dug reading about your guys' PSO memories. That game was so ahead of its time. Several of my PSO friends tried to convince me to move on from it to true MMORPGs like Ultima Online and Final Fantasy 11, but they weren't the same. Even if it was only 4 people to a game, PSO had unique features like comic-style chat bubbles that made chat boxes look archaic by comparison and international language translation with its own distinct Y2K sci-fi aesthetic that nothing else could match.

When the OG MW2 was in its prime my friends and I would party up on a Friday night and play search and destroy far into the early hours of Saturday. I miss those days man

I played Ultima Online for its first year or two I think. I had tons of fun with it because back then it was the MMO Wild West, but I vastly prefer PSO. Hell, I havent had a PC in years and recently got a laptop and within a few days I installed PSO Blue Burst and started playing on Ephinea.

It had such a simple yet effective gameplay loop. "Hop on for the night, pick a rare to hunt, do runs looking for it. Chat with friends if they join your room". Like of course most of us probably already had most items in the game via all the dupes that was going around, but to me the fun of looking for your own rares is that you have the one you found with your own stats on it that is different from the common dupes.

I didn't need that monkey king bar that I spent like 2 months looking for, but damn the feeling was amazing when I finally got it to drop off them purple squids in seabed (I was a redria hunewearl). Sending the "omg finally got !!!!" message to all my peeps, and then hearing that PSO message doink sound with the replies saying GG or grats. Good stuff. That sob had like 15 hit on it too, it was awesome.

Something about just old-school texting in a lobby of people (and racing with our chairs and messing around with the laggy soccer block, lol) made it so easy to chill with random strangers and meet friends. Yeah, we did have those people cutting up spamming racial slurs or other offensive images as the internet will do and we did have the cheaters that would try to crash your dreamcast/gamecube, but I still say that the vast majority of phantasy star online's community was on the more chill side. They had to be....my main friend group spanning over 2 decades at this point came from this game.

I've also played a lot of online rpgs and dabbled in some MMOs of the era trying to replicate that feel. The smaller stuff like champions of norrath and ragnarok odyssey ace. I did play a bit of diablo 2 myself. MMOs like city of heroes/villains, that crappy champions online MMO I think it was called, dungeon fighter, maple story, latale. Did play a lot of world of warcraft. Then don't hit like how PSO hit though, lol.
