Or these "role players" continue to build on what they've learned here and grow. Yeah, George Springer is gonna regress for sure. Absolutely. But the Jays did it as an entire team. Nobody mentions how Santander was basically injured the entire season, Bo went down for the last month or so and playing in only the World Series basically on one leg, Berrios, Bowden Francis, and Yimi Garcia all being great pitchers who also got injured.

It's not like every single thing that happened to this team this year was just sunshine and rainbows and horseshoes up their asses. They played a hell of a season and many of those players will continue to grow with this team for years to come.

eh we'll just have to wait and see obviously. i do like some of their guys going forward like Barger, and guys like Varsho and Clement at least bring defense to raise their floor a little bit even if their bats fall off. big key is of course Yesavage. if he's a true bonafide ace then that does a lot of heavy lifting for their rotation because it looked suspect after Gausman, and no, Jose Berrios is most certainly not a great pitcher

Can you really say they blew it? If anything they got screwed because of a "dead ball" in game 6. Based on how the bases were loaded, that should have either counted as a home run, or the outfielder should have attempted to grab the ball. The guy didn't even make an attempt. That one play would have given them 2 extra points. Hell, those players running should have still counted, but they didn't count it.

It's not how the rule works but if we're being honest, the players should be forced to actually make an attempt at playing the ball. He managed to pull the ball out fairly easily once he actually tried lol

Then maybe it should be changed. In any other competition they would analyse and determine the next course of action at the time of play. I've seen entire tournaments halted for minutes if not hours because of confusion on how things should proceed. They pulled the ball from under the wall with ease, so it wasn't stuck like they claimed it was. At the very least the rulebook should state that an attempt to pull the ball out should be made before calling it a dead ball.

They blew it after the fact. When the outfielder got to the ball at least one person made it to home base, possibly 2. That alone would have wielded a tie going into overtime. They still could have lost.

there are a million different things you can point to that helped the jays lose these last two games the way they did. the ball getting lodged under the wall is not one of them. it didn't really change anything. let's say the lead runner scores instead of being forced back to 3rd, it's still a one run game.

the moment in game 7 that would keep me up at night if i was a jays fan was the bases loaded play at the plate, video shows that IKF did not have much of a lead off the bag at all. he would have 100% scored there with a better secondary lead given how Rojas fielded that ball

When I was making dinner, I saw that MLB Central was talking about that, too.

I need to see that pitch again but I could have sworn that the pitch before the Rojas home run in the 9th was a strike and would have been a strike out. Granted if I'm being that picky with balls and strikes then I'm sure anyone can do the same with any other borderline pitch that could have changed the outcome of any of these games for both teams

to me, if it were a live ball, at the very least it would have ended 3-2 with the Dodgers taking the win. 1 person was already over home plate by the time they called the dead ball, which screwed up momentum.

That's the rule man maybe they would change something during the off season but as of right now that's how it is. And what you said is like the opposite of the rulebook, if you attempt to and touch the ball then you lose the right to be calling it a dead ball.

Thats not being screwed, thats just the rule.

and yes, the Jays choked. They had two chances at home to win the series, and both times they had prime opportunities to score late and failed in both games, leaving loads of runners on the bases.

They need to get everyone on the same page when it comes to balls and strikes, especially when they roll out the automated system. ESPN puts it as a strike. That 3rd pitch also looks a lot closer than the MLB tracking.

Same thing in Game 5 vs. the Phillies - ESPN shows Betts should've been called out on strikes after the IBB to Ohtani, not walking in the tying run.

Maybe the tracking needs to show the strike zone as a prism above home plate instead of a plane. Or maybe Snell was right about luck, and in Game 7 it was the Dodgers being more lucky than good.

Dodgers were skating by. Their offense was in a slump while the Jays were having pesky at bats all series. Overall the Blue Jays played better ball but they couldn't cash in when it mattered the most.

I feel like the death threats have ratcheted up ever since MLB eagerly yhopped in bed with sportsbook gambling. Even Mike Schildt cited those sorts of threats as one of the reasons he was retiring.
