I don't get people who get excited for Plinko, or even say it's their favorite game. I believe it's the only game where nobody's ever played a perfect game, nor are they likely to. If they're VERY lucky, they might hit the middle slot, but most don't.

There are other games that are easier and where you're more likely to win a good amount.

One time somebody got the center every time, because they rigged the board for a commercial or something to make sure it would go in for the camera without having to try it a million times and forgot to fix it.

IIRC they honored the outcome.

If you watch it daily as least you can get the first 3 numbers reasonably well. Last number will be 1, 5 or 9. So you really have to pick 3 and 4th position numbers 1-9

I do remember a super car week. Some lady won a Audi R8. Would hate the taxes but she did pretty well on that one.

I know for a fact that it actually works the other way around.

The prices they use are apparently based on California prices. If you try going based off the prices in your state, you're apparently going to have a bad time.

I always thought this was the case with a lot of game shows. If you win like a car or a trip, you could instead opt out and receive the cash amount of the prize instead.

I've never been a contestant on anything so I've never been able to read all the fine print in person, but I feel like this info has spread around the internet over the many years.

A few of the games have secrets or strategies. Safe Crackers and Ten Chances will always have a 0 in the ones place. In the rare event there is no 0 there will be a 5 for the ones place. Cover Up it is best to get the thousand number right and the ten-thousand number wrong on the first go as it gives you three chances to get the hundred, ten, and one. Never bid _ _,000 on the showcase showdown as they set the price up so you won't win a double showcase.

Even though the show is not fixed they do have a lot of control over winning and losing. For instance Dice Game, Bullseye, and Do the Math are on the easy side and frequently get winners. On the other hand things like Gas Money, That's Too Much, and Squeeze Play are more difficult and don't have winners as frequently. Also in a lot of games they can manipulate things to increase or decrease the difficulty. For instance with Pay The Rent they can adjust the number of winning combinations.

The other way around how? Everything I see for sale always has nines everywhere but the first one or two digits. Including car listing prices. But they clearly didn't bullshit a random assortment of digits into a set of nines.

the prizes for that game are wild. either you get a bunch of trips you dont want to go on or you get the redneck starter pack.

I wonder if people who actually live in Florida find this as bizarre as I do. I remember as a kid realizing how frequently the TV sweepstakes were trips to Florida. They do know there are other places with beaches, yes? Maybe somehow Florida was cheaper.

Eh, Florida has theme parks and stuff too. I don't think a trip to Florida would be as great as a trip to France or something but I won't deny there are things there for tourists.

But yeah I'm sure it's so often a prize because it's cheaper than other trips.

My all-time nitpick is 97% of contestants soooo beholden to audience ppl shouting to them how they should guess & play.

The worst is when they're on stage & utterly cannot make up their own minds - giving their utter will over to the audience, crouching, squinting, waving their arms around... all while Bob/Drew wait on them like parents waiting for their toddler to choose their ice cream flavour.
Superb television that.

Why not just make it an audience crowd game instead of some NPC who bid $1 all morning.

I love when somebody doesn't understand the $1 bid and does it when they go second or third. It's a negative feedback mechanic. You don't get to use it unless you go last, which in turn means you've been up there the longest.

Yep, there is practically zero strategy, other than it looks good for tv & the audience... which the player should not care one iota, but it's a bucket list game somehow for them.
