If they knew and understood what she was and how she operates, maybe.

In a chance encounter on the surface, no fucking way. Well, unless It presented as a ghost. Because It can inherit weaknesses from the form it takes.

Honestly, it feels like there would be rules that they'd have to follow, because the kids couldn't even beat her the first time.

Did they ever even come close to getting hurt in the first movie? I feel like whatever they dealt with then wouldn't be as difficult as dealing with It.

I think the Real Ghostbusters (the cartoon versions) have a chance based on the mere fact they've gone against Cthulhu before. They wouldn't destroy him but they would seal him off from the world.
