Randomly thought of this place and dropped by. Life is going decently for me. I own a house and am working on paying it off, I enjoy my job and it's my first one that has a decent paycheck, although some of my coworkers still complain it's too low. I'm working on losing weight, I've dropped form 225 to 212 so far. Goal is sub 200 and then re-evaluate the goal (I'm 6'1'). I golf semi regularly and am trying to improve and cook the majority of my meals. Very rarely I try cooking something new and maybe add it to the routine.

Currently I don't play too many real games, and waste time on Uma Musume right now which is probably a bad thing. I will be playing the new Path of Exile league when it drops.

How is life for you?

Life is good. A major life event in 2022 has kind of turned everything since into gold.

Work is bad. Got laid off nine months ago and can barely even land an interview in this AI bullshit world anymore.

Forget about dating life, just socializing at all is really difficult anymore. I've tried some things like going to meetups and joining sports leagues but it seems like everyone just goes about their business when the event/game ends. Nobody actually wants to make friends, or at least they don't put in the effort to do so. Whenever there is talk of doing stuff outside of the event it usually falls through pretty quickly. I feel like we've turned into a flake culture where people will drop any social obligations at the very smallest inconveniences or feelings of doubt.

All this puts me in an uncomfortable headspace where it's been hard for me to enjoy things like gaming. I still play, but it's pretty rare to get engrossed and at times it just feels like a chore. I guess that's how I end up doing things like posting on GameFAQs in 2025. Sometimes I do "productive" things instead like work on a programming project, but I hate this feeling that in my career (software engineering), just showing up and doing a good job at your position is never enough to sustain that career alone.

Life is hard, because I'm at the end of grad school and the sheer exhaustion of it is in my bones. I'm at the end of a two year marathon and desperately want to collapse, but the finish line is in sight and that keeps me going.

I also got to visit my best friend in Brooklyn this past weekend and got to meet one of my classmates who also lives there, so that was great. My fucking cishet bestie also schemed to get me to not one but two lesbian bars because she's the best. Ginger's in particular was incredibly life affirming- never have I been in a space so full of women with eyes for women. We drank near the bar, and I saw a butch on a date with another woman- I could see the way she looked at her date, the way her eyes smoldered with desire. The bathroom mirror thanked me for being trans, and I danced next to an adorable couple- I was tipsy enough to comment how great they seemed together and one of them told me they had been together for 14 years.
I wanna be in a couple like that.
The Cubbyhole was more low-key and cozy. Pretty sure the bartender was also the owner. I drank a Supernova (red wine, of course).

And my friends got along super well and exchanged numbers so hopefully they'll hang. My classmate wants me to stay with her next time (don't get excited weirdos, she's in a relationship).

I am having an amazing time right now planning out goals for the next year. where at the end my intention is to find a more permanent place to live. Cost isn't an issue, but mainly the fact that I am looking to own a very small space. More than two rooms is excessive for me, but finding properties that you can actually buy at those parameters while having a functioning kitchen and bathroom doesn't seem to happen. For example, something like a mobile home is actually probably larger than I want (and the dimensions aren't good anyways).

A lot of little things have been piling up lately leaving me physically and mentally exhausted. Extra shifts at work, The weather changed from 80-90 to 40-50 like a light switch, and standing in the rain waiting for buses that never come doesn't help, and I've spent way too much on Ubers just in the past week. My mom had a few health issues hopping from one thing to another and stressing me out, and I have a lot to get done around the house but I'm too tired in the evening to do it, and then I oversleep in the morning and have to Uber to work again.

Not to mention *gestures broadly at everything*. But my mom is getting better now, so that's one thing.

My 40th birthday is coming up, but I can't even muster the energy to care.

Generally good. My career is excellent, my girlfriend loves me, and I'm a now millionaire and back in school for my doctorate.

Small spaces means less cleaning, and less to take care of. I do like having extra space though, and I would love an extra room to put up friends and family when needed.

Long term partner broke up with me, freeing me up to move abroad like Id wanted to for some time.

Meant that I was able to get a much better paying job, with less hours and an amazing benefits package. Got to finish my PhD, travel a lot more, live more financially comfortably than I ever dreamed was possible. And I met a significant number of amazing new people and married one of them.

So yeah, pretty good.

life is going as well as it can be. went to a hiring event at 5 Below yesterday where they had on-the-spot interviews, I sold myself the best I could for about 10 minutes. should hear back from them Tuesday or Wednesday!!

Oh, you know.

Life has felt hectic to me for quite a few months. I'm taking this week off from work to just kinda breathe.

Nothing is truly bad, but I do feel like I'm making some choices that aren't great, so I'm trying to take a step back and be better about things. All in all, life is a bit of a mixed bag at the moment, and hopefully I'm on the right course.

I'm trying to build something so just gotta see how that goes.
