She controls very different to Zagreus, one of the most notable changes being that she has a Dash -> Sprint instead of Dash spam. The Sprint takes some getting used to. She also has more of a focus on charged moves / specials / casts because...well. She's a Witch. Ultimately ends up feeling radically different to Zagreus' more in your face rapid gameplay. Mel can be fast too, but it's like. Imagine if Zag started with the spear and the first two weapons you unlocked were the bow and the shield and you couldn't dash spam. All three of those weapons are fantastic, but a lot of people like Zagreus for sword or knuckles or rail. Other than that I can't really imagine why people would like this game less. It's either directly comparable to Hades 1 or in most respects significantly improved imo. --- She / Her Others don't get to dictate what's normal and what isn't. I was getting the impression that Hades 2 is trying to emphasis long range combat over melee. Your charged attacks are really important, too, as they are your most powerful options. Well, to balance that, the enemies are constantly getting in your face so that you can't charge those attacks, and projectiles just linger on the field and follow you for way too long, resulting in you sprinting about the field too much. Imagine playing Mega Man but you're only able to charge the buster shot while standing still; that's what Hades 2 feels like. The stage hazards seem a little excessive this time and their hit boxes are fucking enormous and your ranged attacks are constantly triggering them. And you're also not walking away from each run with much additional power. At 7 hours, I still only had a single "extra life" and a measly additional 20 health or so. I remember back then the movement felt slower and more deliberate than hades 1? Hades 1 felt faster and more responsive anyway in my memories.
