Welcome to Rank the Mass Effect characters where you submit to me a ranked list of Mass Effect Characters from those listed below. I will compile the results, and we'll see how everyone ranks.

Rules:
  1. Please try to use the format below OR submit a spreadsheet to me with the numbers next to their name. Feel free to use pastebin as well. PLEASE PM ME THESE LISTS DO NOT SUBMIT IN THIS TOPIC
  2. You do NOT have to rank every character on the list. Just the ones you feel comfortable ranking. Leaving a character off a list will not do much harm to them unless the majority of people do not rank them.
  3. Ranking a character lower hurts them more than not ranking them at all.
  4. If you want to make changes after you've submitted your list, please post the entire list again unless you're switching just two characters
  5. If you want to do write-ups for any characters, feel free to submit them to me. I will include any and all that I receive.
  6. Lists are due November 3rd, 2025. THERE WILL BE NO EXTENSIONS THIS TIME as I would like to start posting the list on November 7th for Mass Effect Day. Instead, I've given extra time from the start.
  7. Please do not use a Period after your number ranking. This makes it easier for me to tally. Also please use the names as listed below.
  8. Please submit to me the lists via pm.


FAQ:

Q: There's a character I want to rank that isn't on the list, can I?
A: Yes! But you might want to ask me first if they will count.

Q: If I submit a list with fewer characters, will my list be worth less than someone who lists all the characters?
A: No. As long as your list isn't too small, your list will have similar weight as any other list.

Q: I've only ever played one Mass Effect game. Can I still submit a ranking?
A: Sure! Though the characters tend to carry over between games, so you might want to take that into consideration.

Q: What happens if i list an ineligible character?
A: I delete them from the list, and move everything else up one spot.

Q: How did you decide what characters were on the list?
A: We had a topic to discuss it.

Q: Do you want us to post them here or...?
A: Please PM me. You can submit a spreadsheet, a pastebin or something like that.

Q: Why shouldn't we use periods next to numbers?
A: Because some characters use periods in their name, which makes pasting the list into a spreadsheet harder.

Just makes it easier for me to paste into the spreadsheet so everybody has uniform names for everyone (which allows me to tally much faster!) That way Dr. Karin Chakwas doesn't become Dr | Karin Chakwas

Ive not done this before, so just to clarify:

Are we meant to rank the characters only within the list theyve been where theyve been placed (for example, Commander Shepard might be #1 on a list of main squadmates, Matriarch Benezia might then also be #1 on a list of major characters, etc.), or do we do one large ranking covering everyone (for example, Shepard might be #1 overall, Benezia might then be #2 overall, and so on)?

you rank them all as part of one list.

pretty sure they're only divided because there's going to be a good chunk of users who don't know the randoms well enough to rank. so for them it's easier to just grab the list of squadmates

The latter.

So you could have:
1 - Shepard
2 - Matriarch Benezia
3 - Captain Bailey
4 - Vigil

You wouldn't separate them. All on the same list.
