I'm enjoying this flashback but I wish it was better placed, I want to see how Elbaph plays out. This was initially framed as Loki's flashback but he hasn't been in it for a few months, it's about other characters that he wasn't even around instead.

It's kind of reminding me of how the Bleach anime would interrupt canon events in the middle of a fight just to show everybody fighting their Zanpakuto spirits for a long time.

whatever happens with Rocks is going to effect Harald's relationship with the World Government/God's Knights which leads to his murder. Loki's devil fruit could also potentially be acquired at God Valley. it's a massive lore flashback not only for Elbaf but for every endgame character like Blackbeard, Shanks, Garling, Dragon, etc

The Elbaph Devil Fruit is in Elbaph, I think. Rocks said as much.

However, odds are Dragon found his Devil Fruit (whatever it is) there and put Shanks in the treasure chest he took it from.

Whatever Loki's Devil Fruit is, I'm willing to bet it has something to do with changing size. It's being projected heavily that he's going to join Luffy's crew, and he's too damn big for the boat unless he can shrink himself down somehow.

My bet?

Mythical Zoan Human-Human Fruit. Model: Surtur.

I think we're still trending for Yamato to join. Loki is WAY too powerful to not throw the balance off

Time for Loki to do to Garling or Imu what Ant Man should've done to Thanos.

Blackbear'ds been informed Wano has Pluton. He's 100 percent gonna come for that eventually, which might force a push to sea.

Also, bet on this: Garling vs. Dragon. They have unfinished business.

Ooooh. Blackbeard attacks Wano, Yamato fights them off (or at least tries to), Yamato is either taken prisoner or stows away on Blackbeard's ship and reunites with the Straw Hats when they fight Blackbeard's crew.

Yeah, it does feel like Oda just didn't know where else to put this lore so this flashback made the most sense. But as long as it's all still leading up to the Harald and Loki stuff, we'll get there eventually I guess. It's cool lore, so I'm not complaining, but it does feel super disjointed from what's going on in the present.

Looks like Yamato's trek is finishing up based off this week's cover. Though, I'm not sure if his trek is supposed to be running concurrently with what the Strawhats are up to, timeline-wise. Like, has Yamato's trek all happened in the same amount of time it's taken Luffy to leave Wano, do Egghead, and now this Elbaph stuff? Doesn't feel like it's quite enough time to travel all across Wano.

I think that mainly depends on how long it actually takes to travel from Wano to Egghead to Elbaph. It's not like every island is only a day away from the next, I'm sure there are weeks or even months of mundane sea travel that just gets skipped past because it would be really boring to include.

IIRC we have a pretty well set timeline. It was like a week from Wano to Egghead (which took 2 days to happen) and a few more days until Elbaf, and Elbaf itself has all been on the same day so far

Wano really has been the one exception for arc length since it took place across a month, while other arcs barely go past like 2 days

Now that I think about it, only three arcs post-timeskip have taken longer than a single day. Fishman Island*, Whole Cake Island, and Wano.

Straw Hats are really speedrunning the New World.

*FMI might have been a day, I can't remember anymore. I feel like it was longer though.

Egghead was 2! FMI I think was 2 too, maybe

Pre-skip arcs aren't that much longer though, I think W7 is the only long one if you combine it with EL, with the others also being a day or two long for the most part. Just less noticeable due to being shorter on average (and not having a tight-knit schedule unlike post-skip)

Speaking of this, there is the other Celestial Weapon to consider...Poseidon. I presume the World Government already has Uranus and used it to destroy Lulusia + Caribou doesn't know about it.

Shyarly predicted that Luffy may destroy Fishman Island. I've been wondering about how this could happen...and I remembered that Luffy on Egghead was given food out of nowhere and was later vanished (Chapter 1104 picture provided) despite being on the ground and incapable of movement.

https://gamefaqs.gamespot.com/a/forum/f/f1b6f41f.jpg

The most likely explanation is that Van Augur used his warp warp fruit to teleport Luffy away. He is later found in another area by marines where he has eaten even more food. However, during this time, it is likely that Catarina Devon managed to briefly touch Luffy so that she could impersonate him later (Katarina also touches Saturn with a similar expectation, but with him dead, not sure how useful that is).

So basically, if Blackbeard wants Poseidon, Catarina Devon could show up at Fishman Island disguised as Luffy (who has Fishman Island under his protection) with the Blackbeard Pirates then using this subterfuge to help destroy the island to get Poseidon/Shirahoshi.

The question is whether Blackbeard would go after Pluton or Poseidon first. Granted, considering where Pirate Island is in the New World, Wano and thus Pluton is closer. After Blackbeard does possess Pluton though, I can see him stopping at Fishman Island next...

Oda strongly, and I mean STRONGLY implied, the one who helped Luffy was Kizaru.

In one of the Q'N'As, a fan asked who helped Luffy and Oda said "Hmmm, he was in a bad way. If someone helped him...they'd have to get there at the speed of light!"

That's the thing though. I believe that is a misdirection. The Warp-Warp Fruit does allow someone to travel "at the speed of light" between two points, or so fast it is imperceptible to the human eye.

Consider 2 other things.
  1. Kizaru when he wants to move really fast has to enter his "glowing light" state and usually direct a line of light through which Kizaru will travel (which can be disrupted as seen by Rayleigh/Whitebeard doing as such). There is thus a slight delay. There is no way this would go unnoticed on Egghead considering everyone who is around him.
  2. During the part where food suddenly appears around Luffy (Chapter 1103), Kizaru is on the ground reeling from Luffy's Gear 5 attack. He is shown shortly afterward, but is mostly out of it. Images before and after are shown below. In the Anime, he is shown more to be reeling.
https://gamefaqs.gamespot.com/a/forum/3/3b1b7740.jpg
https://gamefaqs.gamespot.com/a/forum/0/069122d4.jpg

As such, I strongly don't think that it is Kizaru based off how we understand how his powers work (they aren't subtle/stealthy) and considering his state after his 1st Gear 5 Luffy Fight.

Barely. And again, Kizaru is NOT stealthy with his power. He has to brighten up his body with light and make a "light track" that is slow enough it can be disrupted by anyone with Haki.

This is incorrect. For one, it is Catarina Devon that does almost all the talking in their brief interaction, and she is more just talking about his type of powers, more wonder than surprise. Go ahead and review Chapter 1107 if you want.
https://gamefaqs.gamespot.com/a/forum/7/706774e9.jpg
https://gamefaqs.gamespot.com/a/forum/3/38fc905e.jpg
___________________

Again, it makes much more sense for it to be Van Augur. A few reasons.
  1. Van Augur's power is "instantaneous/stealthy", while still being as fast as light, while Kizaru's powers are not stealthy due to having to glow up like a lightbulb and make a light track before moving. Keep in mind, the culprit had to do this twice. Once to give Luffy food, and another to teleport him.
  2. More about the stealth aspect, people were near Kizaru and would have noticed him making these movements. No one even knew Van Augur was present.
  3. Kizaru was still reeling from Luffy's Gear 5 attack. Van Augur is at full strength.
  4. Kizaru was willing to capture his own beloved subordinate Sentomaru, tried more than once to kill Bonney who he was attached to (without prompting), and did kill his friend Vegapunk. Why would Kizaru help Luffy when he was all in on the government's operation to conquer Egghead? Van Augur on the other hand wants Luffy on his feet since it gives Van Augur a chance at Saint Saturn being weakened even for a moment, which lead to Catarina Devon successfully "copying" his form. Luffy causing a distraction also helps them to escape.
  5. Building off of 4, it also gives Catarina Devon a second to gain Luffy's form as well when Luffy vanishes, which feeds nicely into the Fishman Island Prophecy where Luffy destroys the island. We will probably have updates in the somewhat near future when Blackbeard goes after Pluton/Poseidon.

I'm surprised there is as much resistance to the idea of this being Van Augur's doing as is considering how much sense it makes and how much sense it DOESN'T make for it to be Kizaru's doing. I think Oda pulled the wool over your eyes with that comment when two people can actually move at the speed of light.
