It's about that time again where I spend my October watching entirely too much horror movies and TV. I started this series on Board 8 and I intend to continue it into the sixth year! I post it around in a couple places now but I always have a blast with it. And what's crazy is I just don't get tired of it, every year. Horror is a really interesting genre in which it's so wildly creative, even with the bad movies, and I love watching as much of it as I can!

I'll post the previous five years ranking after this first post, but I thought I'd mention some other stuff I'll be watching this year! And I would love to get some suggestions as well!

The Strangers (2024) -- Because the new movie is almost out.

Wow, can't believe it's already that time again! I don't really watch much horror, but I always enjoy following along and reading your write-ups. Last year I did end up watching Hellbound after reading your write-up, and I enjoyed it quite a bit!

I looked this up. I have no clue what platform it may be on.

I have Netflix, Hulu, Disney, Peacock, Amazon, HBO, Paramount, Showtime, Shudder, and Apple. And then Tubi. I maaaay get MGM+ to watch something that interested me there too. I don't intend to pay for anything individually though, but we'll see!

This one looks pretty cool! I don't want to pay for it if I don't have to. We'll see if they put it out on a streaming platform without paying. Tubi manages to pull through a lot for movies that aren't on other streaming platforms though!

Get Out - I haven't actually watched any of the Jordan Peele movies for this series yet, but I've thought they're all outstanding. Get Out is pretty easy to find, so I'll make it happen this year!

Don't Look Now - Haven't seen this one, but I love watching the classics. I don't see it on any platforms yet though.

Dog Soldiers - Never seen this one! It looks like it's on Amazon and other places, so I should be able to check it out!

Resident Evil - This is another series I don't really like. lol I'll check out the first film at least. Pretty sure it's on HBO.

Deep Blue Sea - I remember enjoying this one. I'll see about checking it out if it's on any streaming platforms.

Jaws - I rewatched Jaws with the wife not too long ago, so maybe I'll watch this one at the end of the month.

Lake Placid - Hell yeah dumb sea monster movies. It looks like this is on Tubi so I'll watch it.

Wow, can't believe it's already that time again! I don't really watch much horror, but I always enjoy following along and reading your write-ups. Last year I did end up watching Hellbound after reading your write-up, and I enjoyed it quite a bit!

Really glad you checked out Hellbound! That reminds me that I need to watch the second season this year too! I can't wait to see some big monsters just combo attack someone straight to hell!

That said, this is what this series is all about: getting people interested in horror movies and TV and checking out new stuff. Glad you've enjoyed the write ups!

I don't know that I'll be able to watch Weapons this year. I'm not sure if it'll be on streaming this month. That said, I did watch it. I loved it and it may be my favorite horror movie this year! What a film.

I'll compile a list of all the recs folks have for me too at the end of this month. I got through almost everyone's recommendations last year, so I feel pretty good about watching everything people recommend this year! The funny thing was that everyone recommended so many good things that my list ended up skewing towards more high ranking stuff than bad stuff last year.

Fair warning, 28 days was shot on a potato and there is no hd version so it looks bad on modern tvs.

I'll come up with our list of 31 2025 Horror Films in 31 Days once it gets closer to the month. It's difficult for me to pinpoint exactly what we'll be watching since I'm sure I'll be watching several more things during the current month and I'm not exactly sure what they'll be.

I will say that your list helped me find a couple of films I somehow missed. Namely Untold on Netflix and both It Feeds and F*** Marry Kill on Hulu. I really thought that last one came out last year, but IMDb says otherwise so yeah. I only see 4 films that will definitely debut in theaters during the actual month of October, but there could be some limited releases I'm not seeing yet also. I'm fairly sure Anemone isn't actually a horror movie but it could be fringe enough.

I would also recommend some other movies I liked on this year in Strange Harvest and Marshmallow, if you can find them somewhere to your liking. Strange Harvest should be streaming by October, Marshmallow is currently not free anywhere I know of though.

Strange Harvest was one I was really looking forward to! It had such a unique idea for found footage, and any time they find a way to make found footage a new experience, I'm always down.

I also heard Marshmallow was really good too.

Both of them, I don't see streaming anywhere yet unfortunately. Fingers crossed they appear somewhere!

M3GAN 2.0 is going to be on Peacock for October. I skipped this one because it looked awful but I'll watch it next month, to see the character that Blumhouse thought would be their Superman.

lol They also put Screamboat, the Mickey Mouse horror, on Peacock too. So I guess I'll make sure to watch that one as well.

I'm non-movie or TV news, I'm going to LA to do the RIP tour of Universal's Halloween Horror Nights and then Knott's Berry Farm! It should be loads of fun! Has anyone ever done either of those?

I hope the RIP tour improves your experience. Genny and I did HHN a good while ago and while the houses are the highest quality, Universal put their staff in the houses directing you to move constantly by waving their hands like crossing guards. And they were not costumed, just employees in Universal work attire.

Been to a lot of houses and I've never seen anyone do that. Total immersion breaking.

Yeah, when my friends first pitched the RIP Tour I was expecting to go online and see people trashing it. I was very surprised to see not even a single bad review about it at the multiple places I looked, especially given the price of it. People even talked up how the gourmet meal was good too. And we also get front of the line access to all of the haunts and rides after the tour is over.

So I have high hopes that the RIP Tour delivers!
