will likely never happen, unlike the republican party that will gleefully pull together to support whatever monster they put on the ticket the democrat party is chock full of dumbasses who will turn on each other for stupid fucking reasons. candidate isn't progressive enough, candidate is too progressive, the candidate i wanted didn't win, the candidate i wanted had the primary stolen from them, i dont agree with one part of their message so i'm just not voting; its clear that the democratic party is filled with the foolish that cant look past their own ego and see the actual enemy.

TC's "they go low, we go high" nonsense is the reason we have the current degenerative presidency in the first place. The whole "let's all just unite and get along" fantasy is exactly that - a fantasy. Your centrist nonsense is a nonstarter.

The answer is to go nuclear on the GOP using the same playbook as them, but for good and to fix the problems the last 9 years exploited.

It's a safe bet that TC is one of those who fell for it when klanners used the "economic anxiety" and "price of eggs!" excuses for supporting Trumpism.

Trying to co-operate with Republicans has been a losing strategy for the Democrats, so no. The time for teamwork is over, especially when the opposition actually just wants you fucking dead.

If I had it my way, we would ban all 2024 Trump voters from ever voting again, as they have proven they cannot be trusted to participate in a Democratic society by voting for him after Jan 6

I mean, the phrase, "You get what you vote for," is bad because it's not true. You get what the majority of people vote for. The phrase most people use is, "This is what you voted for," and as long as it's used towards people that voted with the majority it is accurate. I'm still not a fan of it though. I voted Liberal in the last election, and they won, but that doesn't mean I like everything they do, I just consider the Conservatives a far worse option. Also none of the other parties stood a chance and it was going to be close enough that it was best to vote strategically even if it was most likely pointless.

Thing with Trump voters is, theyre either too stupid/brainwashed to realize that Trumps policies and tariffs are damaging to them, theyll try to blame someone else for something Trump has done that has hurt them, or if they do turn on him they just go right into the arms of some other bigoted Republican puppet to the the uber rich. Or theyre straight up bigots themselves that love seeing minorities suffer even if theyre being hurt themselves. Youd legitimately probably have better luck trying to reason with a brick wall tha you would with a Trump supporter.

I wasnt going to ever return to this topic but it just hit me. I worded this topic VERY poorly. So much so that it didnt really give off the message I want. I see why this turned into a shit show and its pretty valid tbh.

What I was trying to say is that we shouldnt hard flame former Trump supporters that actually find a way out the cult. That finally realize that they were lied to and what they support is fucking hideous across the board.

Those are the people we should try to bring in for voting purposes.

This will be my last post in this topic. Im sure Ill still get hard flamed for this. I probably shouldnt even make this post at all since it will do nothing but I feel I needed to at least clarify that after some time thinking how I worded this.

Compromising with fascists never works out for anyone.

Why is this the case, if indeed the topic was made in good faith?

I've said before and I'll say again that I am ready and willing to accept anyone who's had a change of heart.
That doesn't mean I forgive them, doesn't mean I will forget, doesn't even mean I'd break bread with them... but come the next election we as a country need to overwhelmingly reject a dictatorship, need to overwhelmingly reject... basically all that's been going on. It needs to be loud and clear, because this is not about who we will stand with, it is about what we will stand for, and if we fail this final time to come together as a nation, indivisible, and defend democracy, it will truly die and there will be no saving America.

Because the reaction was so negative that I didnt feel it was going to do anything so why bother. I realized why the reaction was so negative after some time. It comes off as me asking people to help those with the same beliefs as theyve always had. In fact, that is exactly what it is saying even though that wasnt the intent. I was more thinking about how we shouldnt dismiss those who have realized what they done and want to change.

None of that was conveyed in my message and I got hard flamed because of it. It is what it is. That was my mistake. Even with the clarification though I doubt many would agree with it. This topic was just a big mistake in general even if I actually got the message right the first time.

Trump supporters haven't listened to logic and facts for 10 years, they aren't gonna start now.

No, it isn't. Understanding that actions can have both immediate and long term consequences needs to be understood. We live in a time where people get whatever they want, whenever they want, and barely think of impact. Memes influencing their opinions on politics is the peak of idiocy. Not to mention the utter lack of verification and large scale use of cherry picking sources that only verified their claims.

Many of them barely have a thought in their head that isn't overtly malicious until the impacts of their actions effect them. Hindsight is 20/20 as they say, but it buys no sympathy from me.

This appears to be reasonable to think this way, but the way we're going, we're only going to get a subset of republicans that (temporarily) change their tune once they are personally affected. They really need to understand what they supported and need to be fully deprogrammed from the cult, or history will repeat itself. History has shown us that things can get much worse before this can happen.

Your mistake was using an alt for this. It comes across as very insincere to post a controversial take on an alt and then just vanish once the criticism rolls in.

Also nah. Ignorance simply isn't an excuse for voting Trump in 2024. We knew exactly what he was gonna do, he literally had a first term to use as reference alongside Project 2025, and he literally said all the terrible stuff he was gonna do. We all collectively told them this and they ignored it. They got what they voted for, but not thinking about what they voted for may have done irreparable damage to the world.

People who voted for him have known about him for 3-5 decades. You had plenty of time to decide on him.

Nobody should have to try or even need to do anything. If they want to change they can start voting Democrat. That is all they need to do and will largely be the best starting point to be forgiven for falling for propaganda.

If they're unwilling to do that and start asking Democrats to change just to get their vote then they can continue to wallow in the filth they've wrought. They made the same mistake twice, they have no right to make demands. They get to live with it along with everybody else they screwed over.
