They don't all make the news because there's so many of them and they're so common that they don't have the staying power they used to. In contrast, there was one in Austria a couple of months ago that was international headline news because of how shocking it was. The reaction was also very different. The national government basically dropped everything it was doing, the parties postponed their conferences, firearms laws were tightened up, a target was set to double school psychologists and even the football team paid tribute to the victims in the world cup qualifier. I honestly can't imagine the USA doing anything of the sort for "just" a school shooting, especially the current administration --- Fan of metal? Don't mind covers? We have a fully corrupt felon President who is using military force for blatantly political purposes under the thin guise of combating crime. But heaven forbid we do anything to give kids going to school basic protection from actual crime. Any non-ridiculous country would have told the NRA and Heritage Foundation to fuck off a long time ago and put in place some common sense regulations for guns to help with basic safety. But no, we cant have the GOP go without their donations and wedge issue. So people are in danger every day for no reason than grift and power grabs holding us all hostage. I have said this before here, but I was in a recess during a court case for work when Sandy Hook happened and I just sat in a corner and cried. I could not believe I lived in a country that would allow this to happen. Now it is worse and today we have yet more innocent victims and our corrupt, broken government wont do anything. And all I want to do is race across town, pull my youngest out of school, and never let him out of my sight again. Our government is offensive. It completely disgusts me.
