It's gonna happen for U.S. as well.. Prices for the switch 1 models will go up in 2 days. Only a matter of time for the games, and then switch 2.

They're raising up digital prices to make it consistent with physical, but also to help eat the cost of tarrifs

Because they've been selling Switch stuff in Canada below the USD:CAD exchange rate for awhile and I guess they've now decided that because the Switch 2 is a thing they don't have a reason to continue to do so.

Yeah guys I made a typo on that and didn't catch it before I couldn't edit it. It went from $449.99 to $489.99, so it's also now above the exchange rate based on the current (for one more day lmao) OLED price in the US at $349.99 USD.

If Dekudeals is accurate, BOTW hasn't had a digital sale in over 2.5 years...

I just want to try it, man! It's finally 60fps. But that price...

It's less about greed and more about Nintendo trying to not punitively damage one of their largest markets. They're hoping to absorb the tariffs across the worldwide aspect instead of just concentrated on the US. Blame the TACO chief.

With hardware, maybe. But this is just digital games. There's no reason to increase the prices unless it's greed. Look at every other platform (Sony, Xbox, Steam) you don't see increases.

I think nintendos pricing is ridiculous and I'm constantly criticizing it. They are increasing the prices for everything rapidly. Kirby from 2022, the switch 2 edition is $120 CAD. They are reselling you breath of the wild for $110 CAD and tears for $120 CAD for a small graphics or resolution upgrade. That's a joke honestly. They charged more for mario kart world just because they know they have enough brand power over people that they'd pay $20 more for it, just because.

I don't think you're seeing the difference here. Motiram didn't even try to change the logo, designs or gameplay, they're basically straight copies. Whereas Palworld, the pals are similar, but have noticable differences, and the game is unique compared to regular old pokemon. You can tell it's a different game and company.
And they're suing for gameplay mechanics, which are the same mechanics you can find in other games as well! WoW, and other games have similar riding mechanics, but they're not suing them. Nintendo is just the king of petty when it comes to litigation. You have a Mario icon in your youtube video? Cease and desist. They like going after the little guy. They're shit. And now these price hikes on digital games? Get the f out of here.

Why is anyone acting surprised by this? Analysts have been warning this was going to happen to the gaming industry since February. Nintendo has said they considered doing this a month ago. If you think this isn't going to happen with the rest of the gaming industry then you're just showing off that you have an emotional attachment to the publisher you think won't do this.
