Turns out there is no context and it's just creepy for the sake of creepy lol? Kradek 07/30/25 10:27:26 PM #35:	Entirely unnecessary scene, but it is kinda humorous in how seriously they're discussing the law and it seems like this is something he's questioned about often enough that he literally has the particular law laminated for use whenever questioned. Reminds me of an SVU episode where this couple had a guy in his 30s dating a woman who was of legal age, however had this condition where she'll never look older than like 12. Stabler and Benson kept trying to get her to break up with him because he was fulfilling his pedophile desires with someone who was actually an adult and she was just like, "whatever we're in love, nothing they can do". To the scene's credit, this isn't the first time "you're too old for her" trope gets used and often the character's defense is "we're in love and soulmates" or whatever, whereas as this one literally discusses actual age of consent laws. Stabler and Benson kept trying to get her to break up with him because he was fulfilling his pedophile desires with someone who was actually an adult and she was just like, "whatever we're in love, nothing they can do".To the scene's credit, this isn't the first time "you're too old for her" trope gets used and often the character's defense is "we're in love and soulmates" or whatever, whereas as this one literally discusses actual age of consent laws.But like I said, the entire scene is unnecessary.</quote> ... I wish writers would find it acceptable that you don't ALWAYS have to have a couple's romance as a focal point of a story shoehorned in there. Tess was a pretty cool character until the relationship dynamic was introduced, then scenes involving her and Shane tend to be pretty bleh.
