I bought three packs. Never played Magic and never will, I assume.

I got a foil Garnet and a foil train suplex.

Second, sure they did raise pack prices, but that really doesn't have a huge impact on secondary market pricing.

someone buying packs at retail isn't making the secondary market go up

Foil Suplex is cool! I only got the regular one.

I think the only foil I got from FF9 is Freya, but I love Freya, so it worked out lol

They can, but doesn't mean I can't dislike what comes of it. We shouldn't even be in this situation because these licensed property sets shouldn't exist, but whatever.

Then the game would be sold in a full deck like uno rather than gatcha booster packs.

Most TCG's rely on both the collectors and competitive market. Preferably, casuals who buy the cards and then end up buying more cards in the future is the real demograph Wizards of the Coast is looking for. Hence why you have Gandalf fighting Dr. Who.

I've been saving up some money from my job's monthly bonuses for a couple months now to splurge on this, so my actual bank account wasn't hit too hard.

I actually like the licensed stuff, and it has been getting most of my recent attention. Did buy a lot of Final Fantasy, though I also have a bunch of earlier sets (the early sets, up to maybe Homelands, though none of the cards worth a fortune) and stuff in the 2013-2015 period as the bulk of it (when I started this, my second collection. I gave my first my brother long ago after the short period I played, something like 4th edition to a little bit in Mirage or so).

Various things have kept me from ever playing with the 2nd collection, but I would not rule out actually playing with the physical cards again (do occasionally play on Arena), but it would take unlikely circumstances.

Those would the ones sitting on sealed boxes to later resell. And wizards confessed they didnt expect such demand which has surpassed every other set in just days.

I wish could get some, but I have not been able to find any Magic cards in stores around here. And there is no way I'll shop online with the stupid scalpers raising the prices so much

There's so many good pieces of artwork, it's hard to name just one.

I think the White Auracite card is really pretty, though, and almost all the ones that are just locations from the games.

Really, any card that depicts an event from a game that immediately makes me go, "Oh, I remember that!" is a really good one, imo.

Get mad at Wizards for not printing enough then. It's not the TC's fault you both like the cards.

They are limited in their capacity to reprint these licensed sets - don't really know what their ability to keep printing this specific set will be.

The Warhammer 40k cards will likely never be able to be reprinted, the LotR cards almost certainly won't be. This set will very likely follow the same trajectory but will be far worse since demand is frankly insane.

Literally unprecedented sales figures that could never have been printed to the demand occured. This isn't coming from MTG fans trying to get the new cards for their decks, it's Final Fantasy obsessives buying at an absurd rate.

WotC deserves shit for a ton of things, but not being able to meet the demand here is hardly one of them.

Imagine telling someone how to spend their money in 2025. I literally can't even imagine.

I used to play back in the day but haven't in a while. The FF set has me getting cards again. I bought the Commander precons to play with if I can convince some game night people, but my collection album I'm mostly getting singles for.

I'm too much of a Timmy to survive in modern meta play.

I bought the FFVI commander decks as that's the cheapest and easiest to find. I have seen the FFX and XIV commander decks at work. But haven't seen a FF VII deck. Probably because they are sold the moment they hit the shelves.

Sadly, there's no Faris card and very little of 5 in general. Missing her in the set is one of my regrets. The only 5 party member to get a card is Bartz. Though Galuf gets a spell card.

2, 4, 5, 8, 9, and 12 all got snubbed to the point that you don't get the entire party.

Still, hope you enjoy the cards you do get, however you get them.

That's so bizarre. There's over 1000 cards. No real excuse to not include everyone.

It's 750ish unique cards I believe, not counting art variants. And 350ish are the Commander cards, so restricted to 6, 7, 10, and 14 while still needing other cards of those games in the main set. I'd agree that it feels bad (especially when the party is small like in 5), but I can still kind of see why game design wise. Party members are Legendary, which makes them a bit harder to build around. Even missing this many party members, I think I saw this is the most legendary cards in a set ever.

I'd rather just have all the characters though.

Look, if youre not already playing Commander, pick your favorite Legendary creature (Like Freya!), build a commander deck around her, show up to your local game store, and have a fucking BLAST.

Im putting Garnet together and she is nuts with anything.

I make it 703 distinct cards (plus alternative art)
this is including 18 cards from secret lair but excluding tokens and art cards
