I remember hearing when it first came out it was lacking, but it eventually turned out great. Is that because of Phantom Liberty?

Yes. There was a huge update when phantom liberty came out that completely revamped many aspects of the game for the better.

I played it when I first came out. I thought it was fine, nothing special, a 7 out of 10. But I've heard all the updates did a lot more than fix the technical problems and it's an amazing game now. So probably worth it at that price. I want to put more time into it, I just need to figure out why my entire PC crashes every time I exit the game.

For as much as it looks like GTA, driving is honestly not as important as you might think. There are some street race and car delivery side missions, but it's rare that you need to do any high stakes things while driving.

Driving is gonna be a bit of a mess regardless.

If you can run it yeah. Even the difference between using path tracing or not can be huge. At lower settings the world can still feel completely empty.

Yeah, it went from a decent, but flawed game at release to a really solid game w/ the patches + DLC

I should be good for at least mid/mid-high. Found out with dlc it's 100 gbish, currently 36%

You may as well restart. Anything you remember gameplay-wise is practically different.

Absolutely. Gone from a trainwreck to a legit great RPG.

The driving is perfectly fine with M&KB and can be made a bit easier with a Sandevistan if needed.

One thing I thought about after talking about the driving: I'm playing a netrunner build which is basically a wizard with the internet instead of magic.

I thus have the ability to blow up cars with my mind.

So maybe the car chases are more frequent and/or more high stakes than I am remembering if you're not doing that lol.

This is the cheapest Cyberpunk's ever been and, as mentioned above, patches to the game have made it far, far better than it was on release. So yeah, it's worth it, just make sure your rig can run it (also mentioned above).

One thing I will say as someone who does a lot of side missions before the main story: just wait to do side missions until after you meet Keanu Reeves.

I bought the disc a few months after release for $10. CDPR's rep was in the tank, but they stated they'd be releasing an upgrade eventually. They did and it is fantastic

I keep my distance from 1st person games, yet this one is in my personal Top 10.

Don't worry too much about the stats. With PL, you get an absurd number of them. At max level, I was able to max out Intelligence, Reflexes, Tech, and still get Body to 15 or so.

You can reset skill points on the fly, but stat points can only be reset once.

The only thing I will say is that the stat checks scale upwards as you level up. So if you spread them around too much early on, you won't be able to pass them because they'll scale up while your individual stats are still low.

I just hope Project Orion manages to deliver on the gameplay promises shown in the first Gameplay Trailer for 2077. Wall climbing with Mantis Blades, direct accessing people's neural ports with a stealth takedown, Jackie actually used his gorilla arms and jump Boosted legs. Jackie actually backing you up on missions like being backup to chat with Meredith.

Phantom Liberty was a strong step towards finally living up to those promises, and the story/ level design / scenario direction were leagues better than the base game. But it's still not quite the level of craziness that was shown early on.

I only have a PS4, so no patch 2.0 for me. Was fairly iffy on the game until the main story mission The Heist. I was all in after that, and did all of the endings, not because they had trophies but I really wanted to see how the different variations played out. Took about 3 weeks and 80 hours to get the plat.

I have been very impressed with how improved PL is over the base game. I liked the base game, but PL is a clear step above.

The side gigs alone are just so much stronger.

Yeah if Orion is "just" an entire game at the scale of 2077, but with the quality of Phantom Liberty it'll pretty much be a greatest of all time game. But Im hoping they take it a bit further beyond and give us something on par with the those original trailers.

You can respec once.

I'd recommend deciding right off the bat if you're gonna be Hacking. It's essentially the Caster Class in this, so most of Intelligence is dedicated to it.

If you aren't gonna hack, then skip putting points in it entirely. The only other reason is for Smart Weapons, and using those while not hacking would be a choice.

Those were never marketed as promises. It was a pre-designed 'slice of pie' demo that showcased what kind of direction they were going with the game, and what features they hoped to implement.

Speaking as someone fully specced into Smart Weapons, I don't know why you would use them on PC. Their entire thing is that they auto-aim. Looking at the skill points, there's one that gives you RAM (ie mana) when killing someone with a smart weapon and all the rest of them just contribute to making the auto-aim better.

It's mostly just because you're investing 6-12 points into a tree exclusively for that.

Outside of Intelligence convo/environmental checks you get no additional benefit from those points. Even the extra Int only gets you RAM.

If you're gonna use Smart guns, might as well go uninvested and rely on the other Perk trees or you might as well hack since you sank the points.

I dunno, when they say, "We've unlocked the abilities of a high level character to showcase what we're doing" I kind of. Y'know. Expect that to be what they're doing.
