I'm not worrying about building specific teams until I've got some better sparks. I've got a 3-star Power but only 2 at best for everything else

There's been some good points about how this team trial stuff works. It's about scoring points, not quite about getting 1st in the race itself, though that does give points

Here's a few key areas to be aware of

1st, 2nd, 3rd - if all three of your girls get these spots, you get a bonus

All Members Place - which means top 5. 1st, 2nd, 3rd is kinda tough but you should aim for all three of your horses to be good enough to get top 5 for this one regularly. If you have a horse regularly placing outside of top 5, that should be a target for you to do career runs with to improve. (you get both this and the 1st, 2nd, 3rd together if you get both).

• Here's a bit of a trap you've fallen into by filling out your roster sadly. If you race with 2 horses, then the bonus is "1st, 2nd", and you only need both horses in top 5 to get All Members Place. So by adding a third useless horse, you actually screw yourself out of these points. You can't remove horses once a slot has been filled though, so you'll just have to improve from here

Activating a skill gives 500 points, but a golden rarity skill gives 1,200, so you want more skills that can activate, and gold skills are especially good.

Activating your Uma's unique skill also gives a lot of points - so you'll want to try to make sure the conditions for your Uma to ult will be happening (IE if they need to pass 3 people or whatever, you wouldn't want them as a front runner)

Good positioning - this means the Uma is 1st amongst their style (IE Pace Chaser etc) as mentioned earlier. So ideally you don't want to double up on the same style in a category if you can help it. Don't screw over a horse just to make this happen though if they won't be good at it or their skills don't line up for it, but you could go into the next career with a plan to build a horse that way

There's other stuff but it's hard to manipulate. Just make good Uma's with lots of skills and vary your styles in the long run and your team will get better

When you are clicking through the different categories during a team trial, you can click on the prior categories that have already run and there'll be a little i next to the score you got, you can click it and see how your Uma's did. At the end of the race there's a results page and a ranking you can click into to see all the details. I'd suggest checking that out after each team trial and keeping an eye on which Uma's are just never giving you much stats - and focus your career runs on them.

This might not always mean the lower ranked Uma's. I've had C+ rank Uma's putting up better points than B Uma's

In general, working out my goals for what I want on the Team Trial has been the most motivating thing for me to keep going back to career mode over and over lately

One big thing to keep in mind is the effect aptitude has:

When it comes to Distance aptitude, A rank is standard no effect on stats, and every rank down is an additional 10% reduction to your speed. So B rank is a 10% reduction, C rank is 20%, D rank is 30%., etc. It gets really severe, so you pretty much always want to be A rank on what you are running

Style aptitude is similar but nerfs Wit instead of speed, and track surface type (turf or Dirt) affects acceleration. Here's a table for them

Some tips on your roster

Sprint:

• These are the same Uma's I use! So that's good
• Just gotta make sure Maruzensky has an A in Sprint, she's a Mile Queen with a default B in Sprint, but if you are short on sprinters you gotta make it work.... I see you have her with an S in Sprint so she'll be just fine

Mile:

• Grass Wonder and Vodka are both Late Surgers- but Grass Wonder can probably switch to Pace Chaser pretty easily
• Mayano Top Gun is a Front Runner which works well with those
• But what the heck is Mayano Top Gun doing here? She has a D rating in Mile by default - I see you've raised it to an A somehow so it'll work here, but you'll have to keep doing it if you raise her again

Medium

• Tachyon and Air Groove are both Pace, but Ryan is already Late, and making any of these Front Runner or End Closer seems not worth it. I'd say just accept that until you can find another horse to move in here as a front runner

Long

• The answer to your Medium team might be here in Daiwa Scarlet. She's VERY flexible in that she can play in Mile, Medium, or Long, and can be either a Front Runner or a Pace Chaser. I would build her out for wherever you need her and move her around
• Since Gold Ship is graciously playing the role of End Closer in Long, that means you are free to pick two of Front Runner, Pace Chaser, and Late Surger for the other two roles, so you could move pretty much anybody in here
• Fukukitaru is Late but also has a B in Pace so you could easily make her a Pace Chaser if the third person you want to bring in is also a Late Surger

Dirt

• Damn both Taiki Shuttle and El Condor Pasa, that's convenient.... I'm jealous, I've had to use inspiration to build other dirt racers but looks like you are doing just fine
• Taiki and El Condor Pasa are both set as Pace, ideally you figure out how to make Taiki a Front Runner. I see you've gotten her to a B there already. Or you could try and make Haru Urara an End Closer and then El Condor Pasa can take the Late Surger spot

Overall there's some mixing up you can do on styles, but I think the big change is swapping a front runner into Medium from somewhere else. I mentioned Daiwa Scarlet - but actually it might be better to move Mayano Top Gun from Mile to Medium (Top Gun is A in both Medium and Long by default but a miserable D in Mile). Your current Top Gun has an A in Mile so she's fine for now but in the long term, you might wanna just keep her in Medium/Long where she usually belongs. Daiwa Scarlet can make the huge jump from Long to Mile to replace Mayano as Front Runner - and then you could move Ryan or Tachyon to Long

If you have any other trainees unlocked I can comment if they'd fit better than anything you have here too. I see you do have Rice Shower which can fit into Medium or Long to bump someone worse off as a Pace Chaser, or even a Front Runner (default B) or Late Surger (default C) if you want. I see your current Rice Shower even has an S in Late Surger for the job already. Honestly Rice Shower could be your Medium Front Runner too, but her ult is good for breaking from the pack so she's not great as a Front Runner despite her default B on it.

One more thing to add about Team Trials, whichever trainee is set as your "Ace" gets a point bonus to everything they do. So make sure it's the one who's routinely getting the most points!

It's worth keeping an eye on your results and see if a girl you put in spot number 3 is actually outperforming the rest of the team (consistently, I mean. There's so much randomness you'll want to make sure you're looking at multiple races over time to get the best picture). If that's so, swap them around and make them the Ace.

Also finally got my first A rank horse, and it was on Gold Ship.

Which is cool, especially for team trails, but I really don't want to fuck with the whales in that mode that's coming out soonish. I can't get 1100+ in two or more stats.

You know, it's really disheartening to search all over the place and not find a single source that can explain what the fuck "vision" and "field of view" does, particularly since so many skills affect it.

People have opinions on it (which is normally "don't ever take those skills"), and people think it affects positioning and avoiding getting blocked (which sounds super helpful) but no one can definitively say so, or provide specific examples as to why it's helpful. A lot of it just seems like guessing. Wikis don't help, and the official guide doesn't seem to mention it at all.

The most helpful subject I've found is a breakdown of race mechanics that says it's used when determining if your horse will try and "overtake" someone. It's a bit mechanical, so it doesn't really go into why having more vision would be useful in this regard, or how helpful it is in general. There are debuff skills that hit whoever is in the users field of vision, so boosting it if you have one of those may be worthwhile. Or you could use your own debuff to affect that debuffers field of view to reduce their impact

Looks like another 29 (seems like a weird number unless I miscounted) from missions as well. So only another 21 statues and 20k Friendship points required to 3-star assuming you have no star crystals already.

Apparently that Goldship GW Celebration Hijack is a bunch of event missions that'll give 5k+ carats and $1.2mil monies. That monies will be big, I'm always broke af even with doing the Hard monies dailies with every tciket

it was a celebration of Golden Week in Japan, but that has no relevance to us except being the holiday week where no anime/manga come out so they are just releasing it on the same schedule it came out in Japan as other events

...and then slowly realized I somehow chose the wrong grandparent instead of the one next to it. I'm actually mad.

Just did a x10 Trainee pull and it yield two different 3* I didn't have yet and four 2*. Felt really good and I'm going to chalk it up to having used some paid currency for it because they want me hooked on that serotonin.

Not quite as bad, but I just accidentally burned one of my 3 daily borrow runs by somehow accidentally having an unleveled R Maruzensky support card selected. Was looking at my bad speed support options on the level up menu and settled on a lvl 30 King Halo, but hit back and didn't realize Halo didn't stay selected until right after I hit start...

I think I rested once or twice and then rec'd the rest of the way without claw machine appearing even once also.

Support Card banner is switching over tomorrow to one with Super Creek as a focus. I'm 95% certain that if you don't free pull on the current banner and have it switch over you'll be able to free pull on that one instead.

One single pull probably won't change anything, but the tech is there if you're interested.

I'd like to spend my carats on Super Creek but I think I'm gonna use it on horses. I've never pulled on trainees except like one ten pull at the very beginning, and Smart Falcon would be great for the dirt team as a front runner, so I think I'm gonna throw what I've saved up at pulling trainees to fill out my roster more and try for Falcon

I'm in the same boat, I've only pulled horses once and I really need more.

...but I'm gonna go hard for Super Creek instead. It's too good to pass up.

I probably shouldn't have done an extra 100 pulls on the kita banner so I'd have enough for the pity for the creek banner, but I did come away with a couple more Sweeps as a result.

I'll probably do one 10-pull on the falcon banner and maybe waste some carats on the creek banner hoping for better SRs since it sounds like the next support banner to save for is months away.

Also, on my last run of the night I failed 4 consecutive infirmary trips trying to cure night owl. My rng on pulls can only improve from here... I hope.

At first I didn't believe the dev note saying Golshi mode is harder than regular career since it all seems the same to me, but then I saw a note saying Night Owl happens way more often and holy **** does that ring true for me, I dunno if its just confirmation bias but I get it on at least every other run and iv gone to the infirmary and failed to clear it 3 times in a row

Who's coming up that you are interested in? Smart Falcon is a dirt front runner which are both things I want more of and she comes out today. Narita Brian looks interesting and I like her a lot in the campaigns she's shown up in but holy **** do I not need another Medium/Long runner with Pace/Late style, my trials team is basically an exercise in "how do I fit these 100 medium/long runners into sprint/mile/dirt"

At the end of the month alternative versions of Air Groove and Mayano Top Gun come out but I'm not going to pull for alternate versions on principle, I hate that concept, ESPECIALLY in the early life of a game.

I have a 1 uncap Super Creek and that's actually what makes me feel a bit like I want to pull for her - if I pull one and get the pity then I could get her to 3 uncaps which would be when she starts getting starting friendship and being pretty strong, so I wouldn't need to borrow her ever. But I think i'll just suck it up and use my 1uncap or borrow

As much as I'd like my own Super Creek card for self-sufficiency reasons, I'm nowhere close to having enough carats for 200 pulls and I feel like if you're not going hard on that banner for multiple copies you're better off just continuing to borrow it.

I just feel like because I already have the 3LB Kitasan, if I pull at least one Super Creek then I'll eventually be able to level that up and have two core cards that I'll never have to borrow.

And the fact is I need more SRs anyway. Everything I have is pretty low level.

Needing more SR's so you can get some good 4 SR's is a great reason to pull for Super Creek

Whelp, I did 86 pulls on Smart Falcon and didn't get her. I did manage to grab all the 1 and 2 stars I was missing like Grass Wonder, Agnes Tachyon, and El Condor Pasa which is nice. I also got Curren Chan and Silence Suzuka!. Curren is a Sprinter and and Silence is Mile so that should help those teams.

Do people run Silence as a frontrunner for Mile or Medium? Maruzensky would be stuck as the Sprinter Frontrunner if I put Silence in Mile, so Medium might be the way to go, plus it'd leave other umas free to be use the pace/late styles in Medium

She seems fine as either, though you want more POW on a Mile runner than Medium and she doesn't have a growth rate boost there. I've been using her as Mile for TT since the only ones that don't need any pink spark investment iirc, are her, Vodka, and Scarlet.

RNG turned around for me on my only 10x pull on the Smart Falcon banner. It started me off with a silver gate that switched to rainbow and gave me my first Taiki Shuttle, 7th pull that showed a 3-star from the start was Smart Falcon, then 8th pull was my first Grass Wonder, and the guaranteed SR was a Super Creek duplicate.

The only 20 pulls I plan on doing on the Super Creek banner came back down to earth with Nice Nature and Mejiro Ryan SR cleats (already have MLB copies for both) and more copies of Ikuno Dictus and Fuji Kiseki. I would have happily taken dupes of R Bakushin since my speed cards are seriously lacking. Did get a final copy of R Maruzensky that I'm halfway considering leveling up, but she has 0 initial friendship, so that's probably a bad idea.
