I think Ai can be use to enhance what we have to make it better, but replacing things absolutely not

we should be researching how to use it to make help artists with jobs

imagine Ai assisting on a surgery or with engineering

I want to like it more. It's occasionally useful at basically being better at searching than google is.

But often i try and use it to make a plan or to check some code or something, and its just wrong enough often enough that it never really saves me time

Im very critical of AI for several reasons. Here is a major one about how using ChatGPT and similar affect our brains, which should worry us all.

Using AI for creative things, definitely not. It can only copy and steal from actual artists.

AI assisting humans in things like medical research and scanning for cancers? That's quite promising.

I can't really answer this poll because it's not just a blanket yes or no.
I like some of the things AI can do. I don't like how it's being forced into basically everything.
I feel like it was released to the public too quickly, and grew too fast.
In addition it was released prematurely. It's not quite at the level it needs to be, to be useful in many of the applications where it's already been shoehorned in. Companies already see it as a fast, easy replacement for human work, intelligence and ingenuity and well... it just isn't that. Not at all.
There isn't the right level of control on it.

I'm not pro-censorship, so to be clear about what I mean by control, I just think that AI content should always be required to be clearly labeled as such, and should be segregated from normal content so users who aren't looking for it don't have to engage with it. Beyond that, I think that any use of it in business or financial applications needs to be heavily regulated. By the very nature of generative AI, it can be profoundly incorrect while sounding very convincing, and that's so obviously dangerous I can't believe it hasn't been addressed by the government already.

But that's all just me. There's a crazy number of people who are super gung-ho for AI and just want to use it for everything and don't care if the content they engage with is real or not. So what do I know?

AI is a powerful technology but it is morally neutral.

Good people can use it for good but evil people can use it for evil.

I am not okay with someone saying we should dump this technology that could help doctors treat cancer because assholes use it to scam grandmothers.

the solution shouldnt be to get rid of the technology it should be to get rid of the assholes!

The government will be giving us UBI to live on, the value of which will be higher then current wages. Because machines and AI will be doing all jobs more effectively then any human can do, businesses will be making more money, the government can tax the excess profits and give to the populace to live on and do nothing all day. And the businesses would still have massive revenues, even after said taxes. Everyone wins.

it's good enough to help me but not enough to replace everything I do. I've seen people use it to automate some admin tasks, but it's like.... do I really need something else to summarize an email for me? I'm just as likely to hallucinate, anyway.

I don't foresee us having actual "AI" for a long time.

Right now it's a glorified search engine that makes tons of mistakes. It's not intelligence at all.

Cool. Are you ready to rejoin us in reality now? Assuming companies are able to, at some point, effectively replace the masses with AI and still remain reputable and profitable, all of those extra profits are going into the pockets of shareholders and executives. Companies avoid paying taxes now, they're going to avoid paying taxes tomorrow and they'll be doing it ten years from today. No UBI. No handouts. Just bootstraps and billionaires baby, it's the American way.

I'm leaning towards yes, I'm a fan, because I have a lot of fun playing around with image and video generations. And it makes things accessible to me that I wouldn't normally have access to, or would take years of effort just to start learning what it gives with a touch of a button.

That being said, I absolutely recognize the danger it poses. Not only taking jobs from people who have put in the time and effort to learn those skills, but it being misused could easily lead to big issues. Especially with the newer hyper realistic videos that can mimic real people.

So, I do have mixed feelings about it, but overall I feel if used correctly, and regulated properly, it could benefit us a lot. But I also don't expect it to be regulated or used properly anytime soon. So I'm just having fun making silly videos to share with my family.
