CNN (and NYT) now reporting that they have a US intelligence assessment of the state of the Iran nuclear facilities post-bombing. mission accomplished https://www.cnn.com/2025/06/24/politics/intel-assessment-us-strikes-iran-nuclear-sites The report says the nuclear program was not, in fact, "totally obliterated" and likely only set back by a few months. States that Iran's stock of enriched uranium was not destroyed and that the centrifuges are largely "intact." It's believed that the damage to all three sites was mostly limited to above ground structures which were understandably destroyed but that the underground portions that were actually the core of it all were not. The Senate was scheduled to have classified briefings on the assessment but those were cancelled and the all-Senate briefing was postponed. Meanwhile, the White House is back to its old, "the news is fake, the leaks are real" shtick where somehow this assessment is an "alleged assessment" that is "flat-out wrong" but also "classified as 'top secret'" and "leaked to CNN by the intelligence community." congratulations to everyone? --- May you find your book in this place. Good result. New York copying my hometown of London in getting a progressive Muslim mayor of South Asian descent in I see. I had been thinking that Mamdani could outperform the polls because the direction of travel was clearly in his direction. When you have that momentum and the last polls are done before polling day, it tends to continue and the further growth you have doesnt get captured by the polls. Interesting too that Cuomos polling didnt move at all and was pretty much spot on for his final result. The people who supported him were always going to support him and there was no significant attempt to expand his base. Which allowed Mamdani to surge past him. Good example of how to campaign. Hard to view this as anything other than deeply embarrassing for the Democratic establishment like Bill Clinton. They didnt need to weigh in at all, but they got involved anyway. Oh no, not *checks notes* mourning the dead and calling for a lasting peace. Nanis, as Im sure youre aware the term intifada was generally used to mean peaceful struggle until relatively recently. It still is often used that way today. Mamdani has been very clear that he rejects violence and calls to violence and does not regard the term that way. Sure, you can have the discussion about whether or not its an appropriate use of language, thats fair. Its not fair however to imply that Mamdani is deliberately supporting violence through it. Seriously, watch 3:55 to 9:35 of this interview: https://youtu.be/ClNKD_6ow-g?si=Q1dFEaTZKVw1FR8l Mamdani gives an excellent response when asked about his views on Israel and I simply dont understand how anybody can watch that and think hes some kind of threat or even antisemitic himself.
