3 > 2> 6 > 5 > 1 > 4
The create a character and solo content in SC3 is so far and above what other games offer. I don't play online/versus others so it is the king for me

Its a damn shame that the character creator classes from 3 never returned in any other game. Their play styles were so much fun

Right? The weapon and playstyle variety is unmatched.
Doing CaC in 4 and 5 was such a letdown with how limited they are.
6 improves a lot, but is still way behind.

Soul Blade/Edge in 2025 is dated af, but it's still pretty easy to see why it was successful enough to establish an awesome franchise. Incidentally, a lot of the things in Soul Blade were borrowed about a year later by the original Dynasty Warriors game (another one of my favorite franchises) which was the only game in that franchise to be a traditional fighting game; everything since then has been a hack and slash action game.

I defeated the arcade mode as Taki. That difficulty really ramped up on that last guy and soul edge. At first I was just laughing at the noises Soul Edge was making.

I have no clue what happened in the final video. I guess she fixed her broken weapon then said the deed was done idk.

I'm surprised people are ranking 6 above 1. Soul Calibur 1 was such a blast with Team Battle mode. 6 nixed that, added annoying cutscenes during battle that break-up the action (I played it very casually so I'd have to look up what those special moves are called in-game), and forced a depth-of-field effect that blurs all of the background.

Honestly it all comes down to 1 not really holding up. You can go back and replay 2, 3, 4, and 6 and have a blast.
1 and soul blade feel so clunky and gross imo that I just can't ever go back to them.

Even if you don't play multiplayer, SC3 suffers massively from Mortal Kombat-tier input reading by the CPU.

Interesting. I feel that way about Soul Blade but not Soul Calibur 1. 60 FPS, great graphics, and buttery smooth animations...it feels timeless.

Dreamcast games in general were some of the first 3D games to age really well.

Well I am taking a break from playing now but Soul Blade from what I played it was still a lot of fun. I'll try out that Edge Master Mode next.

I played Edge Master Mode as Taki and read everything. That was a pretty big reading to actual fighting ratio. And all the fights end so fast.

By like 30 seconds of actual time in fights it started to scale up the difficulty massively. I managed to get past the coliseum level but now have to defeat Sophita only using Critical Edge attacks. I have no clue what that is let alone how easy / difficult it is to pull off while you get killed in a few hits.

My history with this series is so weird. I played SC2 on the Gamecube and loved it so much, probably close to 100 hours into it all said. Then I never played another one ever again.

I guess Link was really that much of a draw for me at the time?

How I execute Critical Edge moves? I can't beat Sophita.
