Doesn't matter what, as long as it's not directed by Billy Wilder. Shoot.

Shane 1953
The Searchers 1956
Ben-Hur 1959
The Ten Commandments 1956
Mister Roberts 1955

I gave you 3 westerns since its my absolute favorite genre. 2 of those are considered a couple of the best westerns of all time and 1 personal favorite. Then you have two of the most known and best epic films in history and lastly as a huge Henry Fonda fan and as someone that was in the Navy myself I give you a personal favorite.

I could list so many more great movies from the era but wanted to keep a short list. Lastly when you mentioned no Billy Wilder I couldnt help but think how much I love The Lost Weekend with Ray Milland 1945. Great movie.

There's a channel that is OTA that plays old 40 and 50's movies. They have noir day. Which has given me a chance to see movies I haven't seen before

Clash by Night and Dark Passage I liked.

My Sig was a line I like from Dark Passage for awhile. Bogart says it at the end.

They had another that was set post ww2 germany. Sadly can't remember the plot or name

Correction it wasn't dark passage it was in a lonely place. "I was born when she kissed me. I died when she left me. I lived a few weeks while she loved me"

This one is a family favorite. When I was growing up we would often have a family movie night where we would usually just pick a VHS from our collection to watch, and this one was a staple. I've seen it dozens of times, and I used to perform a lot of Danny Kay's monologues from memory as a precocious little kid.

It is a bad movie. You're not wrong. But, it's a historically significant movie, and it requires students of cinema and history to have to consume it for a variety of legitimate reasons.
