I'm in act 3 and have gone the entire game up until this point not knowing about the Gradient Parry. I had just assumed that those attacks had a super strict window that I was not getting, and I found out by reading a random article that it's a whole different button for it. Goddammit

That sucks, ...though I could've sworn Verso teaches you about gradient parries in a required tutorial battle.

I had forgotten about this too, until I was watching a streamer yesterday that had just unlocked it.

So what happened was that at some point before Verso I started a new file to get the trophy for fighting the mime in lumiere, and when I did that I turned tutorials off.

What I didn't realize is that apparently the settings apply for every save file, so when I went back to my regular save the tutorials were off. I thought it was weird that there wasn't a tutorial for Verso but I thought maybe it would come later or something.

Eventually I realized it was like that when I got gradient attacks and the game hadn't showed me how to fill the bar and turned them back on, but I was past the point where they taught about the parry.

So yeah, I just took the hit everytime one of those attacks happened

While not on quite the same level as not knowing the mechanic wholesale, I did manage to go most of the game without realizing that there was an icon to indicate when you have to jump over enemy attacks.

Missing out on the tutorial for gradient parries sounds painful though.

I missed out on metal gear rising entire upgrade and skill system because it asked if you wanted to change your frame or something and the pre-order bonuses camer with some so I assumed it was always asking if I wanted to chsnge the character skin
