Kind of made me wish they didnt fuck up the prequel movies, because theres definitely a good story there that could be told on-screen. While Chronicles of Prydain was my formative fantasy jam, I remember enjoying a couple of the HP books, though I never revisted them. I wasn't aware of Harry Potter until the movies. The series didn't start until I was in my 20's and I was in the military and it was just off my radar. But when I saw the preview for the first movie I thought it looked cool. I like the setting and overall story. I'm going to eventually read the books. It might be that I'm now an adult, but I remember as a kid only a bit younger than Harry & co., when the books first came out and just never really being able to get into the books either. Still have copies of the books available, so I might finally make my way through the whole series, but ehh.
