I dont seriously consider pro-tipping arguments from Americans

Its just another reason its nice to not be in the US.

I think its a little funny that tipping culture was imported to the US from Europe.

I tip servers, barbers, and dog groomers.

The only tip you'll get is one from the brim of my fedora.

Since I stopped eating at restaurants and going to the barber during COVID (I now cut my own hair, when I don't feel like letting it grow long), and gave up ordering food for delivery, I don't think I've been in a position where I had to feel actually obligated to tip anyone in about three or four years now.

It's pretty liberating, honestly.

At least McDonald's or Taco Bell or Burger King asks for a tip, not yet anyway.

The ONLY time I tip is when ordering pizza for delivery, if it got to me on time or earlier, going to Waffle House because generally the service is great, B-Dubs or somewhere similar.

All the terminals prompting tips is really dumb. Websites for pickup orders pre-filling a tip amount unless you manually select zero is bullshit. Shit should be wiped away and they can go back to the tip jar.

As someone with restaurant experience the issue is wait staff, when you cpnsider tips, makes a good 4 or 5 times what bussers, dishwashers etc make. It's actually a career option.

If you just give them 28% more than what the other non tipped positions get its a huge downgrade making basically everyone who relies on it unable to make a living tjat way.

People might say, "that's rough, you will have to get another job. It will imprpve things going forward" really seem to jist be thinking about how it affects them.

And good luck getting a living wage, the bar for entry for the job is low enough employers would never go for that.

Hey, I vote against tipping every chance I get. It's this 'culture' in America where we hate it but for some reason, keep voting on it to stay. *coughmassachusettscough* .... It's fucking miserable and we are the only country where it is done as if it is 'needed' for people to make a living.

One of the many reasons I don't bother ordering Doordash and the like anymore. Between the increased price of the food, the fees, and the 30% tip I need to leave if I don't want my food tossed in a ditch, I'd rather just order off the place's website and pick it up myself.

When a tip becomes mandatory to the point that you will not get the service without it, it's not a tip. Call it what it is, another fee.

I personally don't mind tipping only because its a way for certain hospitality workers to make way more money than even a business' "living wage" would be. I tip well because I can. But I get why a lot of people hate it. If it went away without major laws hospitality workers on average would stand to lose a ton of money. But like if businesses were paying livable wages to their staff already we wouldn't be here. So I get all sides but under the current system I am happy with tipping. If somebody doesn't tip i don't care.

This is what corporate America creates for us. It gives the image to other nations that we have so much money that we can just overpay for everything and intentionally do it as a statement. We dont have enough money to afford the item after you increased the cost.

I don't mind tipping for good service.

What I dislike is it being thrown in my face and the higher ups using it as an excuse to underpay workers.

I generally try to avoid going anywhere or doing anything that involves an expected tip, but I have made some exceptions.

I reward good service with a gratuity.

Canada does it too, not quite to the degree that the USA does but still does.

BC recently passed legislation to force shit like doordash and skipthedishes to actually treat their employees like employees.

I tip servers and delivery guys. If I'm driving there to pick up the food, I zero out the tip every time.

While I don't disagree with you, it's effectively abiding by an awkward price increase just to avoid the price increase without the awkwardness.

A few years ago I was in a hotel that had a restaurant. I was there a few days and the food was really good, so I was tipping 20% each day. On the last day, there was a new waiter, and he "added" a 10% tip fee to the bill without asking. I paid that 10% and he missed out on a bigger one by not letting me do it myself.
