I do. It always pleasantly surprises me that people would want to visit our city, especially if they from another country (our city isn't as romanticized as other places as New York, Los Angeles, London, Paris, Tokyo, etc.) I like seeing people from other countries.

Tourists dont come here lmao. Its a tiny shit city five hours away from the nearest major town. Everyone here is only here because of the oil and gas industry. Crime is high. Happiness is low. Its pretty much as flyover as you can get.

This goes for my area as well. They have a single bottle of water, it's 100 and one way is an hour plus.

I do enjoy it generally, especially when i have to communicate with people. it's very easy to get along with tourists, i mean, they're on vacation and are usually happy. I give tips when asked/possible cause I love my town. I imagine tourism is gonna dip huge and I won't see as many people come fall...

The US is literally the second most popular tourism destination on Earth. It gets more tourists than every other nation other than Spain.

You might live in a shitty area, and you might disagree with the current political or cultural landscape, but that doesn't mean the rest of the world sees the US the way you do. Or even the way you think they do.

The US is also still the #1 nation for immigration. For all its flaws, it's still better in many ways that a significant portion of the rest of the world. There are still tons of people who are utterly desperate to come here - either to escape what they're leaving behind, or even if just to exploit our economy and send money home.

As much as so many of us basically hate ourselves as a culture at this point, it's not necessarily how other people around the world see us. Some, sure. All? No.

Obviously there are countries where things are worse. However, I cant personally see myself ever stepping foot in the US again. It used to be something Id only be willing to do for work, but given recent events, Ive refused to even do that at the moment.

I know tone isn't a thing on the Internet, but I can guarantee you have never seen me anything even remotely close to "upset".

Most of my rants and rambles aren't fueled by rage or irritation as much as they're just me being pedantic. just imagine my voice sounding like a bored teacher who is at least mildly disappointed in you and you're probably pretty close to the intent.

But if you feel like I'm unreasonably calling you out way too often, maybe that's just a sign that you need to suck less.

I don't live in a major city so there are no tourist destinations

But one time I saw a tour guide leading a bunch Japanese people through target.

I guess they don't have department stores in Japan but it's a funny thing to see since Target is so mundane to us.

makes no difference to me, the only place i interact with random people is at work.

i don't think we get much tourism though. Some people own winter homes here, and you get people passing through because we're in the middle of the state and between knoxville/nashville, but i don't think there's much call for tourism.

Cincy is not a town someone would make a special trip for but theres plenty of cool things to do when youre there. Theres just not much that you cant find elsewhere but the museums are neat, the zoo is top notch, the restaurants are underrated, and GABP is a great venue for a ball game if thats what youre into.

If they're in mid-Michigan I'm just thinking they had some shitty conference to go to and feel bad they didn't get to go somewhere good for it. Or they're here for MSU and I wonder why they wandered so far from campus which is actually nice to walk and see.

If I see them in the thumb near my family's cottage, I am happy the town is getting business because they need it.

I don't think we get a lot of tourists. Sure, there are a lot of historically significant places nearby (Seneca Falls Convention, Mount Hope Cemetery, George Eastman House, etc.) but I doubt many people care enough to travel here.

Got a ton of them in the area as the US open parking lot with shuttles is within walking distance to my house. The traffic can suck and its annoying when there isn't space for me to get in and out of my street because a line of traffic blocks it.
