Actually the some of the mobs in Cathedral Ward do straight up get a new attack at a certain threshold.

Another thing if you weren't aware is that Witches of Hemwick straight up can't summon adds at 0 Insight, making them (even more of) a joke. The catch is that entering a boss room gives Insight so you're not like to ever see it without intentionally making it happen.

Lore wise it may be more accurate to say their summons can't affect you or be perceived at 0 Insight, but functionally it's more the former.

There's a Chalice Dungeon that starts with CUM where if you just stand in a spot near the beginning of it the boss dies offscreen and you get something like 80k-ish blood echoes

Kind of, but in bloodborne there's not really any armor thats strictly better than another, with a few exceptions.

Yeah Ive noticed even the expensive armors don't seem to do much different than the inexpensive ones. I like the crowmasters armor cuz it looks the coolest though

It's been a while so I can't even remember what armor I always got....but I did just always use the same armor. It really doesn't matter lol.

The only armor I actually remember is the Doll Clothes specifically because you can get and sell them so early for a shit ton of Blood Echoes.

It can make a bit of a difference when you're concerned with a particular damage type, but not much. You might tank 1 more hit that way, depending on how it rounds.

It's probably more relevant for status ailments, particularly Frenzy if you don't figure out the other trick to that.

FromSoft realized that players care more about fashion than stat increases when it comes to armor. So it's mostly negligible in Bloodborne, wear whatever you like.

Also you seem determined to stick with Arcane, so there's really only one weapon that you want to get and it requires beating the first boss of the dlc. Which you could do now since you've already defeated Amelia.

The only problem is the first boss of the dlc is one of the hardest in the game. But you get a fantastic weapon from him that scales well with Arcane in its tricked form. The quintessential magic sword.

That is a great Arcane weapon but you absolutely want some Strength too, unlike when you just slap an elemental gem to change a weapon's typing.

I wasn't planning on buying the dlc :( I just beat the witch of henwick and that was probably the easiest and lamest boss I've seen between elden ring and this. Even the shitty like throwaway bosses in elden ring were more interesting than that. Just kill 50 summons that don't hardly attack wow so cool

The DLC is probably my favorite DLC of all time, so would recommend just based on that

Yea Bloodborne bosses is where a good amount of my gripe with the game comes and why I rank it relatively low in my Soulsborne series rankings compared to most people. There's some of the Souls' series best, but a bunch that are very whatever.

Yeah I love Bloodborne but a lot of the diehards don't want to admit that the main game's bosses only have a few truly great ones. That said I could say the same for anything before it except DS2 where the truth is even bleaker.

(But in defense of DS2 fans they don't gas up their bosses.)

Even if they straight put Bed of Chaos in Nightreign, having a jump would make it way less terrible.

I don't recall seeing any Bloodborne fan defend Witches of Hemwick. It's my favorite game but that's still a shitty boss. Living Failures is even worse imo, considering their placement I think it woulda been better to completely delete that boss from existence.

I simply love the gameplay, so even with the lackluster bosses it's still just fun.

Granted I am a defender of the One Reborn and Micolash...

But nothing will ever be worse than Bed of Chaos.

Micolash is infuriating but I look forward to him every run.

My memory is that it's probably....pretty easy to miss the "secret" area if you don't know about it, right?

There's at least one secret area in every Souls game that I would never be able to find on my own.

Cainhurst def requires some convoluted steps to access though.

I thought Living Failures was fine. Although I'll agree that base Bloodborne is somewhat lacking in memorable bosses. Thankfully the DLC fixes that.

I dunno, I can't speak for anyone else but my problem with them has nothing to do with being a part of the dlc. If they were in the base game I'd still hate them.

Not that I have a problem with someone disagreeing, as I said I love Micolash and One Reborn. So I understand if others don't feel the same as me about the Failures. I just don't enjoy bosses that incorporate more than 2 targets at once.

Bloodborne has ~8 great boss fights, but most of them are either in optional areas, in the DLC, or in chalice dungeons. Several of the mid-game mandatory (or most easily accessed) bosses are weak, but they're more than made up for by the later great ones.

I can't remember if it works on gem-converted weapons. It definitely doesn't work on weapons with natural non-physical damage.

This rom the spider boss was another like the witch but at least the summons were actually somewhat threatening. And he had attacks of his own. The ice attacks were pretty easy to dodge after they killed me the first time though

The area changes after beating Rom. The earlier version would have been worth exploring, but no big loss either way.

Also you are correct about Phantasm Shell, only works on non-infused weapons.

Does anyone know if I should be putting 3 elemental gems of the same type on one weapon if that's useful or if I should spread out into other types of gems? I finally have 3 fire gems that can all fit into my saw spear but I have to remove the gold gem to do all 3 and losing a flat 12.5% damage buff against beasts seems like it might not be worth it. Just wondering how much more worth it raising my fire attack higher and higher is compared to going wider

You definitely want to stick to one element per weapon. Spreading it out will hinder your damage quite a bit.

I've never done it myself though so I can't say how much of a difference it truly makes. But I'd say focus on fire for your Saw Spear, then maybe put some other gems on another weapon so you have an option for enemies that are resistant to fire.

No like 3 fire gems on one weapon vs one fire gem and some other stuff like a gold gem

Oh also you don't need to worry about that extra damage against beasts, the Saw Spear already has an innate bonus against them (serrated), plus they're weak to fire. So even without that gold gem you still have a beast deleter.

You just need something to combat kin type enemies now, bolt is a good choice for that. The Tonitrus might be your best bet, which can be found in Hypogean Gaol. Unless you have enough bolt gems to slot into your Saw Cleaver.

It's just the bonfire, er lamp, that's broken. You can still get there from Yahar'gul Chapel.

Come to think of it, question for you, did you ever check the door in Cathedral Ward that opened after beating Bloodstarved Beast?

If not then definitely do so soon. You can get a badge that allows you to buy Ludwig's Holy Blade. It's got some Arcane scaling if you slot in an elemental gem. It's also the best weapon in the game.

Another question, and this might be a long shot, did you ever meet Eileen the Crow?

Yeah I attacked her by accident at the start and had to kill her by making her fall off a cliff. It took me like 2 hours lol
