i had forgotten this particular thing was such a thing its a costume im pretty sure you would like

hell there is flat out cotent locked to a 2nd playthrough but most of that is not to exciting (thoe it has 2 really cool costume sets one of which gives the entire cast power rangers esq costumes)

iirc one of the Vesperia sidequests expects you to reach the end of an early game dungeon and then turn your ass right the fuck around and go back to the entrance and if you exit to the overworld you blew it.

Believe it or not, there's one in Abyss that's even worse.

The second playthrough content is quite nice imo and there will also simply be plenty of stuff you didn't do your first time around. Lots of character stuff for everyone on top of the standard superdungeons and superbosses.

problem is abyss is a LONG game i doubt raxis wants to play it a 2nd time when he has other games im sure he wants to play

i love abyss one of my fave games of all time

but it is a commitment to 100% (thoe far more justified of one than many modern games with tons of bloat)

The worst part of 100%ing isn't even any of the absurd cutoff timings, it's those damn cooking titles. Each of the 6 characters need to master each of the 20 recipes by making them 30 tines each, so that's 3600 battles you need to do even assuming you never run out of ingredients, which you will.

100% this game was a nightmare I don't recommend anyone do. I'm not even completely sure I completed a certain side quest. At least ng+ carries most of the important shit over.

Yeah, just piggybacking on what everyone else has said, this is kinda what I keep getting at about *needing* a guide open at all times to 100% Abyss. There's so much that's permanently missable locked behind going back to revisit places you never have any reason to. It's a great game, but an obnoxious 100%~

tbh abyss is one of those games that is a pain to 100% but it's mostly spice up the game and get more out of it with replay's imo and you don't need to do the side quests anyway since the main story is long to begin with so you can skip them which i did back when i played it
just keep that aspect in mind when you feel like replaying it month's/year's later that is when you go for a side quest playthru

Also, to think, we coulda just left her to the miasma way back at the start of the game and spared ourselves a lot of trouble.

While her hands wasn't clean, damn that one hurt. Arietta got dealt a shit hand in life. From losing her parents, being raised by ligers (Real animals btw), losing THAT parent, and basically being groomed (Thankfully not in that way), and the only thing that made her happy was being with Ion. Which she never finds out died and got replaced.

Not to mention Original Ion saw her more as a pet than a human being with feelings.

Girl needed a hug, and I wish you could have given it to her.

ah yes the artietta storyline in this felt so forced and so dumb like why go and kill her instead of telling her the one person she cared is dead this is why if there is a remake i want a new route for her plus give us the god general cantabile who was cut out cuz they ran out of time to put her in

if its the weapon i believe you're referring to the Jewel of Gardios sadly its not the best one especially for this run OP is on because he wouldn't be able to activate its bonus thing without new game +

everyone's best weapons are from the coliseum (besides Jade that's his third best) so doing the coliseum as soon as it opens breaks the game

Guy's special weapon Mystic arte is a top 5 in the series for me

it's so fucking cool

The cameo fight is the second-hardest fight in the game. Focus on Mint, then Philia, then Reid, then Nanaly. If you're playing on higher difficulties, you'll want to focus on Reid first because he has a Mystic Arte that will revive his entire party, heal him, and nuke anyone close to him. Clear the hardest difficulty of the single battles with as many characters as you can. Items are also allowed in this fight, so stock the fuck up.

Finally completed the game! Everyone was right, really really good game. The characters in the party were all excellent, and Luke had such a good character arc. Also by far my favorite romance in the franchise. I'll list more indepth thoughts in the next couple days, but just broadly I had a great time with it, thanks to everyone who suggested it or otherwise hyped it up.

Sometime in the future I mean to replay it for 100% (or at least as close as is reasonable), but for now I'm taking a break and moving on to other games :)

I wanna finish a Fire Emblem Fates: Birthright women only challenge, then probably move on to Trails of Cold Steel 1

Glad to hear you enjoyed it! Out of curiosity, who did you take into the final battle? There's a whole extra "phase" (really just a playable cutscene), but I think you have to have Luke *and* Tear to see it.

Guy, Tear, Luke, and Natalia, they were basically my main party past a certain point, I used Anise instead of Luke at times, and sometimes I swapped Jade in just for variation. Guy and Tear never left unless they weren't available.

The Grade Shop is a really cool spin on NG+.

This was a fun topic to read through. I haven't played Abyss in years so it was nice seeing many of the cool moments from the game again. Vesperia, Abyss, and Symphonia are my top 3 and the ones I've done the most playthroughs on, followed by Graces f, Xillia 2, and Berseria. The Abyss cast really grows on you, and Guy, Anise, and Natalia are really fun to play as and I swapped between those three all game. If this game ever gets a remake, I hope they amend the missable content because a lot of it is fantastic but it's annoying to have to look at a guide every 10 steps you take lol

And yeah the grade shop is amazing and a great incentive to replay the game. I wish all RPGs had something similar

I'm guessing those were the special weapons that one Maestro in Daath talked about? I got half of them. One from the dinosaur boss and two from the father and son Malkuth officers in St Binah. After that I had no idea where else to look and it sounded like I missed being able to access several optional areas, so I just didn't bother looking after that.

Hm, now that I think about it, I'm not sure if the whole Fell Arms sidequest is missable or not. I thought it wasn't, but now I'm recalling at least two puzzles for it that I *thought* required the upgraded Mieu Fire, which *is* missable...

I'm surprised you kept Luke in the team, although I'm guessing you found he was still useful in AI hands as a frontliner. When (if) you replay it, I highly recommend maining Anise, she's pretty fun to use once you get used to her~

Luke, I think? Asch was either dead or part of Luke by then, so I don't see how it could be him.

One of the sidequests you missed offers some additional insight into what's going on with postgame Luke. Short version: the "science" behind it dictates that the answer is not so clear cut~

Personally, after my last playthrough, I came to the conclusion that it's primarily Luke, but that some part of Asch is still in there.
