Some people might have been mad when the thing that caused Superior Spider-Man to happen, happened. But the actual storyline that followed ended up being pretty popular i think.

Why the **** is Magneto, Loki and Mystique? This sounds quite silly.

Yea. Most of the team is pretty random. Spidey has probably 16 enemies that would actually make sense that could have been on this team.

He is an Omega level mutant with control over 1 of the 4 fundamental forces. By himself, he has little trouble defeating most incarnations of Spiderman.

Magneto's gonna wreck Peter's webshooters and whatever tech he has in his lens these days.

Even as somebody who isnt a massive Spider-Man comics fan, surely it isnt that hard to come up with 16 Spider-Man villains?

I only know Screwball from one of the games, so couldnt comment.

I could quite easily believe that some of the names I came up with wouldnt fit, but equally, Im sure there are others that fit well that Im unaware of.

My point is, it seems weird to bring in people like Magneto when Spider-Mans rogue gallery is basically rivalled only by Batmans.

Magneto's also been like, mostly a hero/antihero for like two decades now too so it makes even less sense.

I mean, they have done a sinister 12 in the past and in a previous run they had multiple versions of the sinister 6 and associated variations over the years all active hunting for spider-man at the same time

They did Sinister 12 in Mark Millar's Marvel Knight's, enjoyed that run.

NGL, I'd read a comic where they give the Wall an upgrade like they did for Spot in Spiderverse. Not sure how they'd pull that off though.

Yes. Like actually yes. Well not yes in so far as they hate Spider-Man, but yes in so far as the entire point of Peter is to suffer. That's Peter's raisin d'tre. Suffer for everyone but also try to maintain a normal life. Spider-Man is a paragon of that ideal of the "I just want to live a normal life but I have too much power and too much responsibility to be idle and do nothing"

If they didn't make Peter suffer, he wouldn't be Spider-Man anymore

I am pretty sure I once saw a page from a comic where Peter literally talks to God and is told his purpose on earth is to suffer for others

I will say I don't really think this a "Marvel hates Peter" thing. The idea of "comic hero fights a bunch of villains at once" isn't new and I feel like every major hero has had an arc like that at least once.

It's not creative at all but I wouldn't consider it jumping the shark or part of Marvel's normal Spidey treatment, just an arc that will fade into the ether.

I'm wondering if there's some kind of swerve though since as folks have mentioned so many of these guys shouldn't have Spidey on their radar.

Mags and Loki also haven't been villains for years. Aaaaand if they remember Loki owes Spidey a favor from years and years ago maybe that'll go somewhere.

Loki's mostly heroic now, he owes the favor, he didn't like Mephisto even back when he was still evil, and he should like Spidey because of his general trickster-esque nature.
