I tried Risk of Rain 2 and wasn't a fan, I tried one about 6 years ago and wasn't into it, don't remember the name. I want a new roguelite or roguelike, I've been playing Spelunky 1 and Dungeon Crawl Stone Soup for a long time and want to try something fresh

FFF: Chocobo's Mystery Dungeon on the Wii. Never had the patience for some of the special rules dungeons. But it's pretty fun, and leveling up your jobs keeps you busy.

What about these shooter roguelikes? I hated Risk of Rain 1 and 2, everyone says they're the pinnacle of the style. Am I just not into this style of game? Or are they paid by Gearbox to have this opinion? Or are they genuine opinions and there's something else out there for me?

Void Bastards / Wild Bastards

Lethal Company gets a lot of love and is roguelike-adjacent. I just watch a bald man play it though

Would PlateUp count? Unrailed too while we're at it. They're 3D but have a fixed isometric perspective. If you want fully 3D over-the-shoulder or FPS, I'm drawing huge blanks here. Also all of these are meant to be multiplayer

I thought both were pretty unfun and really hard until I played with a squad of 3-4 friends. There's magic in synergizing characters

Spelunky 2 is even better.

RoR2 is quite good, but beside that and Hades the entire genre is hard to get into for me.

Nightreign comes out a couple months.
