Usually there is a tell in a trap answer. In todays there were two. Three LA streets and one NY one probably wouldnt be lumped together, plus Wall Street was given its full name while the other three omitted their suffixes. Thats similar to the Star Wars trap from last week, in which the four names were not presented uniformly (Boba, Solo, Chewy and Darth - a first name, a last name, a nickname and a title). When you see funky stuff like that, its usually a good sign that its a trap. No pun intended.

I just had kind of a nebulous idea of what (turned out to be) the purples could be. I just thought scooter and chinstrap went together as like a delivery person combo.

Meanwhile I only know one of those to be a penguin.

Definitely do not feel good about this one. The only one I knew was yellow. Everything else was a lucky guess.

Yeah, I also didn't feel confident about guessing the greens. It felt like two pairs of not particularly similar things, but it made sense in hindsight. I sat there for awhile before guessing it, though.

Yeah I failed miserably today. I got the yellows and greens immediately (did not fall for the Muppet trap) but couldn't nail the blues and purples. I kinda had the penguin category in the back of my mind but couldn't nail all four.

Lets break down the purples

Area = yeah, checks out (math)
Athletic = Technically fine because of the Oakland As, but meh it feels wrong
Excellent = A as a grade, sure
One = the worst one imo. A = 1 when? Some kind of cryptography because A is first letter of the alphabet? Is it algebraic? NYT is a big fan of steak sauce?

For "one" for the purples, it's referring to the word "a", as in "a thing" is "one thing".

"a" means one as in "a pen" vs "pens"

I thought the second purple referred to Academics, Arts, and Athletics, which I think is a thing. But that's plural, and Connections normally favors exact wording. So I dunno!

I caught that there were three dolphin/whale things, but melon? And then after sitting and staring at all of these for so long before getting the blues, Monopoly immediately clicked for the greens.

My second guess was me trying to fit things into a train category with railroad and soul.

So I fell for the trap then realized it was a trap then re-fell for it. Saw Bale/Holmes/Ledger/Murphy, and almost went with that until I saw Hardy and realized it was a trap. But then I remembered Katie Holmes wasn't in TDK so I went with the other four. Of course, Hardy wasn't in TDK either so I messed up anyway. -_-

We had similar thought processes. I thought Holmes was the trap because the other 3 were Nolan Batman villains (one from each movie). Still tried the 4 out anyhow.
