Nintendo is releasing a console more geared towards the high end of the market and likely expect this console to be around for the better part of a decade, they're clearly expecting it to be an investment from the consumer (just like developing it is an investment from them) and if a customer hasn't got the financial ability to buy one right away and wants a Nintendo product this year, well, the Switch 1 is still around and being supported.
