It's really all I care about from Nintendo anymore TBH.

Pretty funny they still have to put a disclaimer about nothing Switch 2 showing up. But at the same time why the hell would you do a Switch 1 direct a week before your next console reveal. Surely this would've been better to do at the end of Feb or something.

The best thing that can come out of this is them announcing a price drop for the OLED so the Switch 2 can come out for the price the OLED did...yeah that ain't happening

All I want is Fire Emblem tomorrow and Smash next week.

I fully expect to get neither.

Unless Metroid Prime 4 has straight-up been moved to Switch 2 (not even with a multiplatform release), there's no way we don't get a ton of info on it tomorrow.

prime 4 needs all this time to show off its fully fleshed out Hunters multiplayer

Maybe MP4 multiplayer will have some retro maps from Prime 2 and Hunters.

NEW GAME: Kirby: Galactic Champions (new Kirby sidescroller with an emphasis on boss fights, introduces some new powers and brings back a lot of the boss/villain characters from the series)

FEATURE: Metroid Prime 4 (about five minutes of gameplay coverage/story teaser)

10 minutes or so of headlines, most notably we get news on a Fire Emblem 4 remake, a preview of the new Professor Layton, and the upcoming Balatro gameplay update with a preview of some of the new jokers/mechanics

Nintendo Switch Online update, mostly focused on Nintendo 64 with the original Super Smash Bros. as the headliner along with one or two third party games

FEATURE: Dragon Quest I-II 2D/HD, release date revealed

FEATURE: Chrono Trigger 30th Anniversary Edition port to Switch (also coming to PS5/Xbox, basically just the Steam/PC version with some quality of life features ala the Final Fantasy Pixel Remasters, EXP/Gil/Tech Point sliders, a quick travel feature for the Lost Sanctum, no graphical improvements or major gameplay changes though, release date later today) After the Chrono Trigger port reveal we get a quick reveal from Yuji Horii that work has begun on a full 2D-HD remake of Chrono Trigger, coming sometime next year, though nothing from that is shown.

Next is a quick sizzle reel of some smaller third party and indie projects.

FEATURE: Halo: Master Chief Collection reveal for Switch

Finally, we get someone from Nintendo thanking Switch players for all their support over the years, that this will be the last Switch exclusive Nintendo Direct, and to tune in next Wednesday for the full reveal of the Switch 2. Then we get the "we have one more announcement to make, this will be the last announcement for today".

NEW GAME: Super Metroid: Return To Zebes, a full remake of Super Metroid produced by Mercury Steam in the Metroid Dread style.

Keeping my expectations low. Switch 2 Direct next month is where the real excitement potentially is

You are technically correct calling it next month but that feels weird when it's in 5 days

there's honestly a pretty decent number of titles slated soon, so i wonder if this thing is actually just mostly going to... i mean obviously, be packed with the handful of first party titles, but also potentially have no other new titles even from third-parties either.

they could certainly use the boost, considering pretty much everything in the switch 1's lifespan is pretty much screwed now in this launch window >_>

i mean just for reference we've still got stuff like hundred line, layton, inazuma eleven, fantasy life...

Eh, the less games stuck on Wii U the better and it's no sticker star, it has its moments.

color splash getting a port now would be a massive slap in the face. it being released at the very end of its (already pretty bad) console lifespan is the reason it did as badly as it did! (sure, switch 2 should be perfectly backwards compatible, but like... who's going to even be buying any switch 1 games by the time switch 2 launches)

Oh, the Direct in April is that soon?

It's April 2 I think

Yeah it's in 6 days. Which is why this seems like an odd time to do a final Switch direct when they've had 2 months to throw this out. Maybe they want to give the Switch a final summer blowout then release the Switch 2 at the end of the year.

I think they probably want to build hype for the April 2 direct and have a sustained presence in the online discourse

I don't imagine today's showing will have much except for maybe one big port announcement (either PS/Xbox like someone above mentioned, or maybe finally WW/TP ports)

today's direct really exists so that Nintendo will be talked about for a solid 3 weeks at least

so far have seen the koei tecmo stuff for nso and a bunch of xenoblade x ads on jp stream

seems like they're literally just going to pack the entire final 10 mins of jp preshow with xenoblade lol
