I honestly felt like it was the least likeable Anthony Mackie has been since 8 Mile.

Cap 4 is kinda just... already covered by its commercials

Yeah it had such weird marketing. But I think it's probably slightly underrated. Harrison Ford really elevated every scene he was in, I thought. But obviously has tons of flaws, and I can't unlearn the knowledge of the reshoots which just makes all the Giancarlo Esposito stuff feel really tacked-on.

I watched it and thought it was solid.

I'd put it in a similar spot of Cap 1. I good super hero movie but nothing special.

I do appreciate that we finally got Incredible Hulk followup, though it's a bit weird that there was no Hulk involved.

I started watching the Defenders, I'm actually more hyped for this than I thought I'd be.

In hindsight I kind of wonder if all those post-credit scenes that haven't been followed up on were in fact meant to set up the next Avengers movies just like for Phase 1 - and the increase in content combined with various delays just make it a lot less clear.

Pretty much agree with this. The first half of the season was pretty good but then there's a clear drop in quality in the second half. The stuff with the Hand just doesn't vibe with me too well. That said, crossover events like this are super hype to me so I still enjoyed it overall.

DD1 > DD2 > TD > JJ1 > IF1 > LC1

The Punisher is up next. I enjoyed his character in Daredevil so let's see how this goes.

So I'm five minutes into Ironheart and I just need to say it.

I have been a known Iron Heart hater. Because the character frankly sucks. She has always sucked. She has no fans. She's just such a nothing character.

But five minutes in, they actually make her so much more interesting of a character already. Why? Because she is righteous but horribly flawed, misguided, and the second she tries to talk about how great she is, there's people to tell her that no, she's not as great as she thinks and has learning to do.

This felt like such a direct response to most complaints about the character, in that she's the perfect genius from the jump and always smugly proud of her accomplishments without much push back or strife.

It really was this easy to make Riri Williams interesting, but it always felt like nobody ever wanted to make her flawed. So I'm already far more optimistic and excited for the rest of the show as a result.

F4 seems kind of whatever to me. The plot feels a little too familiar, and the characters, even Johnny, all feel kind of... subdued, I guess? Bored even?

I'll still see it, but my expectations are pretty low. I was hoping for some Hickman-esque inspiration given the film's proximity to Secret Wars, but right now it's giving Rise of the Silver Surfer with the retro futurist aesthetic.

Watched first three episodes of Ironheart and I think it's really good actually. Riri is Actually Good which was my biggest worry since she usually absolutely sucks. They did a great job with making her someone you can root for that's not infallible.

The Hood is, uh, such a weird departure still. They're doing a really good job with him and it may win me over yet, but I dunno. I really like the foul gangster fella.

There's another character I'm kind of curious about still and I'm not sure what to make of him. Willing to wait and see there.

Overall, it feels pretty strong so far. No complaints.

Yeah I'm enjoying it so far. Anthony Ramos feels like kind of bad casting for now but we'll see how the character turns out. But it's kind of weird how everything that happens in the show is about her trying to make money when the only thing we know her from is hanging out with the leaders of the richest country in the world.

I only watched the first episode but I wasn't feeling it. Not sure if I'll continue on.

I watched the last three episodes of Ironheart.

Overall, I really enjoyed it, but the conclusion felt... in a way, rushed? And I kind of hated how a lot of the last two episodes shook out from a storyline perspective since episode 4 seemed promising. I think it ends entirely too abruptly too and who even knows if we're getting a continuation of Ironheart now because it's so abrupt and not entirely satisfying as a result. It feels like the set up for a final episode we're never getting because there's so many loose threads with no hints at anything in the future.

I think, ultimately, the Hood isn't used as well as he should have been. He's kind of a punk ass, in the wrong ways. His arc is such a disappointment and I wish they had went in a different direction with it. Ezekiel Stane is used terribly, and the character is just really awful in so many ways? Not entertaining? Really stupid? Should have been done a million times better? It's honestly embarrassing how badly they scuffed this character and how dumb and disjointed his arc is.

But there's one thing that may actually make these last two episodes worth it one million percent. Gonna spoiler tag it. Sascha Baron Cohen as Mephisto is absolutely incredible. Best part of the whole series by a mile. He's compelling, swarmy, entertaining, and just utterly intriguing. Again, I have to stress I don't know if or when we'll ever see him again, but it's such a disservice if we never do because oh my god, he's just so good. This Mephisto is perfect. Throw Mephisto anywhere for me, please. I would give up everything else in Ironheart to just get Mephisto in something again.

Overall, I did really enjoy Ironheart until these last two episodes where it skids to a halt and falls flat on its face. Aside from the thing I talked about in the spoilers, the entirety of it just really, really sucks. Actually, I'll go ahead and say I thought the first part of episode 5 was solid too. It's just that there's a point where it all just crashes off a cliff and it's baffling that it ends up the way it does. It's very disappointing for a show I was genuinely hoping would end up being great from how it started. But instead, it's just another MCU show that doesn't know how to end.

And uh, are we ever going to see Ironheart again? Are we ever going to see anything from this series again? Maybe in the not-Young Avengers? The MCU kind of doesn't have the benefit of a doubt that we'll see something again when it's hinted at anymore.

Just have Ms. Marvel show up in Kate Bishop/Hawkeye season 2 and forget the rest exist.

I've watched 4 episodes of Ironheart, it's okay. I think at this point it's really clear that they just realized like "Oh, the problem with the previous shows wasn't that we didn't make them, it's just that this huge medium-spanning connective universe doesn't really work".

Not better than Loki, but everything else, I think yeah. Clown felt like Jinx, but she was fun. Zeke was meh. Hood was cool. But man, the guy that everyone is talking about. So damn good. Please be a great villain for the MCU!

it was pretty decent, not like incredible or anything but by the end of it I think it's a pretty good package, they do well with tempting Riri throughout the show as a theme and she really doesn't feel like a hero at all

Fantastic Four is out in a few days

I'll probably see it the Tuesday after opening weekend, as is my usual m.o., but the vibes are off on the Fantastic Four.

Mostly though I think I just hate the Joseph Quinn casting and how the whole trailer is built around two jokes that don't land (the bad "clobbering time" joke sequence and the "late for breakfast" thing). It's just awkward.

I have hopes that the actual movie will be good but the trailers for this thing are not doing it any favors
