Never7 is mediocre. IIRC it has one pretty good (far from great) route and the rest are bad to mediocre. Not something I recommend.

As far as "before they were famous" VNs go, MOON. is much better.

I was going to get ever17 but then I saw all the reviews saying it's a part of the bad 360 version

Depending on the cost it's probably still fine but I don't know all the changes

But from what I heard it isn't the end of the world, but it could also be worse than what I had heard about!

Kinda sucks that the version we got has a large stigma to it, hopefully it doesn't affect any future plans like a proper Remember 11 or 12riven translation :(

Has anybody played this steam Umineko? I played the first episode back when board 8 was obsessed with it when it was all just fantranslations, I'm assuming this is official?

I'm looking at the Questions Arc steam page and the descriptions are all really poor english..... It makes me not optimistic about the actual translation in the game.

You should not play the default pachinko (Steam) release of Umineko. Get it and the install Umineko Project on top of it. It's a completely different world in terms of quality in all forms of presentation. It sucks super bad that anybody who just buys the game and plays it as is is getting such a bad version.

Added a few things to the basket, just looking for one more cheap thing.
But now I'm getting tempted by Late Shift as any LP I saw was rather funny.

I settled on getting Raging Loop and Totono.

Since Ive had a bit of a mystery/sci-fi interest lately, Im curious if anyone heres played Root Double and whether they liked it.

My past experience with Takumi Nakazawas work has been with Ever17, Remember11, and, looking at vndb, AI: The Somnium Files - Nirvana Initiative. I loved Ever17 and consider it my favorite Uchikoshi game, but as far as Nakazawas work goes, Yous route was my least favorite character route (and I liked You as a character), though I thought the Kid scenario was fine. Remember11 was very interesting with great pacing, but I felt unsatisfied by some of the solutions to certain mysteries (namely, how some of the attacks at SPHIA/bad end deaths occurred and the motive for trapping Self in the infinity loop). From what vndb shows, I liked the parts of AINI that Nakazawa worked on.

Im not planning on getting it all that soon, but since this topics up and the game seems to usually be 75% off when its on sale, I figured Id ask what peoples thoughts are on it. Ive seen some mixed reviews, some who really enjoyed it and others who didnt really care for it overall. Plus a handful of complaints about pacing and length issues. For what its worth, I was fine with Ever17s pacing, which sometimes gets criticism for being too slow during the more slice of life parts.

Root Double is good, very good at times. It has two protagonists: one of them is great, while the other is not so good. Not one of the best VNs but a solid one. I didn't play the post-game content, which is apparently mostly bad scenes that were cut for pacing reasons. Took me about 38 hours. It has a very strange choice system that basically requires you to use a guide to get the true ending. I played on Switch, and it was a nice one to do portable.

Root Double is mostly very good. One route is badly paced, but all the others are great. Start with the A route if you do play it. You will probably need a guide to get all the endings and progress in certain points.

I was actually eyeing Labyrinth and Eden since I had been meaning to play them for a long time now since I had finished Fruit. They were all 55% off during the sale, I believe, but I imagine theyll be discounted again during the Spring Sale happening soon.

In any event, all 18+ content is removed from the Steam versions, including some dialogue as well, I believe? Though, Im pretty sure theres a fan-made patch for each of the games in the main trilogy that restores this content.

Apparently completely separate for this. Ciconia Episode 1 just went on sale for $10.

100000% still worth playing even if it never gets finished.
