The vial only makes up 0.2% of the blood taken from your body >_> Relax

I used to freak out at blood tests.

Telling them about it and then talking through it in casual conversation about pets or vacations usually helps me

It might seem counterintuitive, but the way I got over reacting like you do was watching them put the needle in. It's the anticipation that causes you the distress and anxiety more than anything else. I don't even feel the needle going in, unless I get a terrible phlebotomist.

Make sure you are hydrated. Drinking water makes it easier for your blood to be drawn. If you need a minute to calm down after getting your blood drawn that is okay.

I have a follow up blood test coming up. I have a legit needle phobia from an incident when I was a very young kid and while I've learned techniques to manage it? I still get filled with dread having to get tested or a vaccine or something. I don't tend to calm down until an hour or so after it's over.

Yea thats my exact problem with needles too. Its all physical after effects, especially lightheadedness. Ive found that having a sugary drink with me for afterwards helps. Drops that 15-30 minutes of feeling like Im going to pass out down to 5-10

Needles and vaccines?

Just got a vax shot last week, immediately starting crying in pain. Nurse was like I didn't even jab you yet. Told her I was just kidding. We had a good laugh.

Not sure if you are supposed to eat or not, but It helps
Also drink plenty of water.

I didn't either of those once for a blood test and almost passed out.
I genuinely wanted to pass out, but with all the people helping me, I didn't want to make things more difficult for them

Also, don't look at the needle or blood.
I have phobia of veins, the needles and blood combined don't bother me half as much as veins.

I have this exact problem too and I have to do quarterly blood tests for a medication Im on.
