Florida man and Florida women strike again. RIP to the victim. I feel awful that that young woman just lost her mother.

I don't want to blame the victims of this senseless killing, but this is why I would never stop let alone get out of my car for incidents like this. Too maybe psychos with guns in this country.

But I guess it's a consequence of the "always me" mindset some folks have.

Thank goodness in this case the murderers were caught almost immediately after the fact. Killing someone over what amounts to nothing.

Like, how do you get out of the car and see the other person and not be like what the hell am I doing?

It's happened to me almost exactly this way before.

I was dealing with someone who was ignoring my indicator, and merged anyway (which I shouldn't have done; I should have just gotten off at the next exit and doubled back or something; I very nearly caused an accident). The other driver blasts the horn, follows me into a parking deck, and parks two spots over from me (the closest open spot to me).

I'm pretty much over it, so I hope it was just a convenient spot for the other driver, get out of the car because I need to go in to go to work, and this like ten year old kid walks up to me and says "you almost hit our car" in the most matter-of-fact way possible. I have no idea what to say. I know I screwed up. So I just say "I'm sorry; I didn't mean to" and then I see the other driver, whose face is totally white (as in, "pale as a ghost") and manages to sorta half-whisper "it's ok."

One of the reasons why I try to behave myself when I'm driving. You don't know who's packing and it might take just a little bit to set them off.

Unfortunate what happened here and unjustifiable but I wish the daughter hadn't engaged those two hoodrats the way she did.

Person A feels entitled to 'call Person B out on his shit'.

Person B isn't going to let that fly and be Person A's doormat, so they respond.

Repeat and escalate until one loses face. Then, instead of a fistfight or a retreat, add gun violence to the mix.

Road rage is insane and when you're in their sights, the fight or flight response kicks in hard. About a year ago, I had someone get pissed off at me on the highway for a reason unknown to me. For a few miles on the highway, he would ride on my tail, speed off beside me to brake check me, and just be incredibly antagonizing. To shake him, I would act like I was exiting the highway and get back on at the last second. He would get on the feeder road to follow then cut across the grass median back onto the highway and continue his brake checking and acting like he was going to hit. At one point, he pulled to the shoulder and pulled a gun out. I ended up going a few exits past my planned destination to ensure I lost him and I was shaking pretty badly. Thankfully that's only happened to me once.

Road rage typical involves someone doing something that unwittingly endangers the life of the rager (pre-rage; remember that we are talking about vehicles that way in excess of a ton moving at speeds up to 70-80 mph).

Which kicks in the "fight or flight" instinct.

And as they are evenly matched with their target (ie: vehicle vs vehicle), the fight response wins out in many cases.

If you want to reduce road rage incidents around you, maintain lane discipline and do not set yourself apart from the rest of traffic by driving too close or too far from the car in front of you. Do not drive markedly faster or slower than traffic around you.

And do not make any sudden, abrupt movements with your car if there is traffic.

Pretty much. Just a light tap to catch someone's attention if they are stalling at a green light because they are no doubt looking at their phone or going through a packed wal-mart parking lot and letting someone know not to back-up on you if they aren't looking both ways.

The country was built off of the railroad actually, which then was demolished for cars.

That's the extra stupid thing about road rage....even honking in response to someone's reckless driving can provoke an insane response from some folks, and you just don't even know until they flip the hell out.
