I finished Ender Magnolias: Bloom in the Mist in one weekend, and Im still blown away! I didnt plan on spending my entire weekend gaming, but once I started, I couldnt stop. The story was gripping, the world was beautiful, and the gameplay kept me hooked until the very end. Its been a while since a game had me so immersed that I lost track of time like that.

It doesn't happen often but it does happen.

Dead Rising comes to mind. I kept trying to start it and kept failing and giving up before reading that that's totally expected. So I decided to grind the beginning a little bit then give it the real college try. Think I just zoned out on that shit one weekend, didn't stop.

Never did play it again though after that first time lol. And couldn't get into any of the sequels (well, I didn't try 3 yet)

I'm sure that I have in the past. Nothing that I've played in recent memory has been short enough for that to be doable though. I tend to play a lot of 60-80+ hour rpg's.

Was common in the NES era. Beating a game in a 2 day rental period but it is because games were incredibly short back then. They usually made up for it by being artificially difficult but if they weren't they were pretty easy to completely in a rental.

Now a days most of the games I play are much longer. Even the "short" games tend to be at least 10 to 12 hours to play through the story mode.

Games are too long to beat in one weekend now, but I enjoyed my time with Metaphor a lot. One of the best RPGs I've ever played in recent years.

I also did this with Ender Magnolias not too long ago. Not my favorite game ever, but I felt like I was constantly making progress and enjoyed the exploration

Back in the day, when I had the free time of a teenager and Gamefly, I would regularly beat (normal sized) games in about three days.
