You know what, this really doesn't surprise. We keep seeing instances, going back to election day last year, that Americans are very stupid and their collective intelligence continues to plummet to this day.

Might be a little nuance but the outputs were:
31% strongly approve and 22% somewhat approve

This means that the average person you interact with has a better chance of liking Trump than not.

Bread and circuses. However once the bread is too expensive and people are sick of the circus people will turn on him. Not his cult mind you.

Trump is making good on a lot of his promises. Those promises were to be a racist fascist dictator and so far he's doing an okay job at that.

Americans hate freedom and democracy, they love tyranny and oppression, it's built into the DNA of a country founded on slavery and genocide.

Trump is doing what the American people want, that's why they voted for him.

If you hate Trump you hate most Americans.

66% of people say he isn't doing enough on grocery prices. He hasn't done anything so far. The belief he could, was the main reason he gained some support, so I suspect if this keeps up and he says either negative things about grocery prices or just doesn't do anything(aka a continuation of now) I don't see how his approval rating can keep up.

Let's check back in at the 100 day mark and evaluate from there. I'm not confident this can hold, but I don't know.

I think it's too early to see how far DOGE goes and a lot of things we haven't had enough time to see any real fallout.

I think at this stage the average person just sees a lot of work happening. This is because his handlers(heritage/P2025 and Musk) need him to get as much done before he dies, is 25th, impeached, etc. This isn't me thinking any of those are magically going to happen, but that explains the flurry of EOs and such. His first term he was a lot more aimless because he didnt have the internal support system he has now.

Just gotta wait. Not confident it will go down much, but I know the reality is this will be a shitshow.

Sucks real bad for people working in/adjacent to government, research, etc, and people that order things from overseas for the ~30 hour period before agent orange changed his mind on the tariffs, but like...80, 90% of the populace? Nothing tangible has happened. Yet.

we get three, four months in and eggs are still expensive if not more expensive, people not directly in government are laid off for reasons that are bullshit at best, and we get into weird culture war nonsense from the right wing? Rating goes down. Probably.

I imagine to some degree Elon is acting as a lightning rod right now.

That's certainly not accurate

He's been in office for 3 weeks and nothing that impacts people has happened. Bad things can happen from his actions but most people aren't paying attention outside of headlines and social media.

Let's revisit these polls after the next tariff pissing match happens at the end of Feb(but really, the 100 day mark is the first 'milestone', at least traditionally, and I know how crazy that word is right now). Either he extracts bullshit concessions on top of shit already agreed to, like a week and a half ago, or tariffs go through and things will obviously get more expensive, US auto industry is worried, US liquor industry is worried, other industries, etc.

How long can he keep up the tariff charade threat? The reverse is tariffs going through which will be bad in ways the average person will be able to see.

No it will be much higher than that because at that point and unfavorable opinion could mean your arrest.

I doubt the news, they will say good things to not be shut down by the state.

It can over the long run. His policies will eventually start hurting his followers. It isnt until it hits home that people start to question things. Some of the crazies have turned on him already - some during his first term. More will.

But the problem is that in the meantime, he will be fortifying his spot at the top so he cannot be ousted.
