No brother lmao. 4 was announced with a teased liara in the clip
What the hell is even left for Mass Effect. It wrapped up cleanly after 3. Why beat a dead horse

I have no hope for ME4, not because of the state of Bioware. It's purely because I think picking back up where we left off seems like a lazy cash-grab, and I don't think they can tell a meaningful story in that space anymore. Theres literally supposed to be galactic harmony after everyone came together to defeat the Reapers.

ME:A was awful, but the concept of a new galaxy with new conflicts, new races and new planets to explore is still an exciting one. If they added more than a single alien race and didn't ape the Collectors so hard, it would have been good. It can still be good if they put their effort into a sequel.

Jesus Christ.

Source? If yes, it made all the flop deniers look silly in retrospect.

The game just isn't that good. Stop blaming anti-wokers for EA shitting out a mediocre product. Not to blame the director tho I'm sure if she'd been allowed to ignore EA's moronic mandates (like trying to make it live service initially) she'd probably have crafted a good game.

I'm not sure. I don't know if Bioware has the writers anymore. Veilguard is d-tier JRPG writing at best.

not everyone who leaves a job does so because they have to
sometimes they just want to work on something else for a different company
She says in her statement "As for me, my departure was voluntary, as I have been presented with an opportunity I couldn't turn down. I dont want to say much more right now, but you can count on it being in the CRPG space and upholding the traditions of great characters."

She really just took the reins and crashed this ship and decided to hop off to another.

I haven't found that anywhere, but the numbers here, and the source it cites to get to those numbers, seem to make sense. If they're right, it's more like Veilguard failed by roughly half of the expected target.

When a game is in a dev cycle that long, it's dangerous. The expectations for the game just keep raising higher and higher. The director was not in a good position to really succeed.

I can see this sort of cycle making anyone want to step down. 10 years is a long time to work on something.

This does seem more honest, at least.

I don't think we'll really know for sure until EA's sales call which I think is later this month. IIRC they only release numbers on those calls.

I'd say she 'saved' it more than anything. Got something workable out despite its other issues.

Was no chance she could fix the story issues but we did get a pretty bug free game with decent combat (taste depending)

I think it is pretty much meant it was a failure or at least underwhelming at this point. The only comment I saw so far the sales were a success was from a journalist which suspiciously removed the statement on twitter.

If it was a success, they would have rubbed on everyone's faces by now, and simply it was not the case. It wouldn't make any sense for them to defend the sales of the game without any proof of success and suddenly not gloat its success if they had proof.

Sure but "reportedly it missed sales targets by 85%" with no source just reads like culture war horseshit.

That's not entirely what I mean. You basically got something that was in a cycle that long. Whatever you got at that point couldn't have been too great.

10 years in general for something is a long time, and this isn't some indie project where you may not have been able to afford or have the talent.

The gameplay is solid enough, but it doesn't care at all about prior events, and even trivializes quite a few of them. For example, I would have liked to know exactly how Neve lost her leg. But nah, that's not important. Everyone and their mother knowing exactly who Elgar'nan and Ghilan'nain are, and how to pronounce their names exactly is! Veilguard could have been so much more.
