Yea it's a Chinese gacha action rpg game on mobile and Playstation. And maybe also pc, not sure. It's like Genshin Impact if you have heard of that. In fact I think it's made by the same company.

The game is very generous with its gacha currency. I was able to get almost all the characters without spending anything.

How very unlike Hoyo

They seem to be improving with each installment. Genshin was greed city. Honkai was more generous, but they made you grind heavily. Zenless seems to be where Hoyo hit that sweet spot.

Speaking of ZZZ's differences, I'm amused that so far ZZZ is also Hoyo's only gacha game since Genshin, to not have a little girl-type character like Genshin's Klee or Honkai's Bailu.

It's also the only one of Hoyo's big three whose MC is working behind the scene instead, not directly involved in battles, and thus unusable in battles.

Its actually a trap. HSR seems to release characters with more frequency than Genshin. Like I think theres only been one 20-day cycle where there was no new characters in Star rail so far, but theres been quite a few for Genshin. So they give you 10x the free stuff in Star rail than they do in genshin but theres way more to spend it on

You might be right, but so far ZZZ in this most recent update decided to release two characters at once, but instead of two weeks per two characters, it's a whole month per two characters.

At least they eased everyone into the idea of two characters per month by giving you one for free this first time. The next updates appear to have 1 new banner and 1 rerun going forward. Given time they'll start overwhelming us with new characters and power creep and when that happens I'll likely be done with the game lol

Do you need to be really powerful to do main quest stuff?

Powercreep in this game seems weird to have unless enemies start having millions of HP and or start OHKOing you

And much like Genshin, the most enjoyable part of the game is not playing the game and looking up fanart instead ( )

Nah.

If you're the type of person that likes to engage whatever the endgame is (Tower and Shiyu Defense in this case), then it ends up getting the better.

Even in Genshin or HSR you don't need the BEST units, just units that can clear stuff, if your only intent is to experience the story or side content/quests.

In Star rail, the 4* characters started off good. I remember when Fire MC and March 7th (Preservation) were considered top tier. Once ZZZ gets more premium characters the non-premium will drop off for the most part but not entirely

its been over a year since I played Genshin but I cant imagine that Bennett and Xingqiu are considered mid or lower these days

I don't know where people get the idea that this game is generous. On average it takes about 76 pulls to get a S character and you have a 50/50 chance of getting that limited character. Fail the coinflip and you could end up with something completely worthless (Nekomiya). To ZZZ's credit, the rest of the standard characters are pretty good where as Genshin and HSR they're not.

I migrated to playing these games exclusively on PS5 thanks to the company's shady security features. Genshin had a database breach four years ago where UIDs and passwords were leaked resulting in a lot of stolen accounts.

Feels bad seeing people complain about getting Nekomiya when that's literally the one standard S rank I want now. She that bad? I don't really care as much about chasing meta right now. Like, people who've been playing longer than me are going crazy for the new characters, meanwhile I just want to pull for Ellen even though I'm already using Miyabi.

You might count Koleda, but the recent story has shown us that she's an adult, but just has a small build.

I like that both MCs are present, instead of Gemshins one playable MC and the other is who knows where, as well as Honkais only one MC is canon.
