I have never beaten one of these and let me tell you the last two levels took me a whopping five hours. The game itself is already tough the higher you get but then they just flat out give you nothing and auto kill you. I think in 2.5 hours on the last level I only had four actual runs.

Kirby's Star Stacker (GB)
This is a good puzzle game that doesn't beat you over the head but it is a much less exciting Tetris Attack in every aspect. Star Stacker is not about clearing stages but clearing stars, get X amount clear per level and you got it beat . The game has 4 difficulties to clear and then a bonus insane mode that unlocks after.

Yeah, they also added Fatal Fury 2, Super Ninja Boy, and a Japanese puzzle game with a bit of a cult following called Sutte Hakkun to the Super Nintendo section.

Ctes has beaten Super Fantasy Zone

This was a bad experience. When difficult games aren't fun the experience becomes all the more frustrating and I basically had to rage quit level 6 for a while where you are consistently surrounded by a group of enemies and slowly apporach you while shooting at you. Moving speed up how fast they're apporaching you, but you have to dodge their shots. You also have to shoot them to have an out of the circle they're creating while again requires you to move. This spot specifally was so rough I used rewind to practice it and after dying countless times despite doing that I quit the game for a while. Arcade like shooters being tough is nothing new, but this was beyond ridiculous imo.

Leaving that part alone, what's left? Well, we have a pretty lame shooter. You loop around a stage having to shoot a bunch of identical enemies to proceed to the boss. You can occasionally buy upgrades but way too many of them are temporary, including a lot of attacking upgrades, so you'll have to learn everything without them anyway. It quickly gets expensive too. Bosses were probably the best part. They were fine, the levels were not. I guess soundtrack was also decent. Overall, the bad outweight the few decent parts by a lot.

Ctes has also beaten Alisia Dragoon

A decent platformer, also a bit tough at times. The main unique gameplay element comes with the dragons that you can swap between. I also think the reason I can't place it higher is that they are not that fun to use and occasionally excluded from bosses. You have almost no control of them dodging and the rate at which they fire can be frustrating to. You often have to position yourself awkwardly for them to hit anything. They are also not that different from one another, so it rarely feels like your choice of dragon matters. Fine game regardless though!

I've been trying out the recently added Super Ninja Boy. It's pretty interesting, though I fear the battle system will quickly become too repetitive.

Oh it does have some classic RPG style boss battles instead of only the action style encounters it has had so far.

Pretty enjoyable up until now!

Wario Land 4 is done. This was the first GBA game that I ever owned when I got it and the GBA for Christmas back in 2001. I've probably beaten this at least 10 times over the years and I still think it holds up great. Now I wait for Wario Land II to make it to NSO since that was the first Wario Land game I owned

I think Super Ninja Boy is starting to get to the expected too repetitive point. In this era of gaming I much prefer tradition RPG rather than action, in this case also because it doesn't run that smoothly. It's still enjoyable overall, but I'm jumping a bit back and forth between it and other things for change of pace to not burn out with the gameplay. I'm not sure how far I am, but I'm definitely not near endgame yet.

Giving this a bump.

It's a little annoying that in the turn based fights, it's random what attack Jack and Ryu uses. Use the darn Feather Sword that was required to get every single time please, hearing "Yaaah Moonsault Kick!" sucks.

Super Soccer is getting delisted by March 28th, so if you want to add that to completion, you have to play it quite soon.

I already beat it, so I'm gonna keep counting it as a completed, but if it gets delisted it obviously drops towards completion for the rest.

Still, I think it should motivate everyone that hasn't knocked it out to do so. In particular given the past month or so has been among the most dead months to date in this project. Super Soccer is not great imo but it's not that long either, so you should all manage.

Ctes has beaten Super Ninja Boy

SNES RPGs have a certain charm to them. This is no exception to that, but it feels like it could've used another few months of development. It's not very polished, it doesn't run that smoothly and that's not the NSO emulator's fault. Action RPGs just wasn't as good a genre as turn based RPGs at the time either. Battles are not really that fun and they kinda need to be, in particular with the encoutner rate. You can actually run into an encounter before moving after a battle because it checks the tile you stand on as well, that can be annoying!
Another point of criticism is the point of backtracking, often with little to no hints where you must go (although it's often to the same guy). You have to travel back and fourth a good many times. You get some teleport abilities but you have to be smart about them and at times it doesn't help you.
Other than that, I enjoyed the game. Again, the standard is high, the story is amusing enough and the world has its charm. I think the criticisms holds it back from being higher up but I had an enjoyable experience.

I feel like except for a few levels, this was generally a step down from the first two. Hard to pinpoint exactly, levels just felt like they took a dip for most part, although a few exceptions are there to that. Decent game, but that's about it.

Cool, GB library is starting to become something slowly.

I'm rounding up actual Switch games as well currently, seeing as 2 is getting very close I figured I should get through some of my Switch titles that I haven't gotten around to.

I'll probably knock out something random here and there too while all you guys play Super Soccer.

I gave it a shot, but I'm abysmal at sports games. Lost the first tournament match by seven points even using Germany... don't think I'm likely to manage this one in the time limit.

Yeah, that's fair. It's not exactly what I'd call a great game either.

While MZero and gang are (totally) dealing with the disappearing Super Soccer I played something else called Super and beat Super Valis IV.

This was not very fun. Another action platformer of the time but of lesser quality than most. My issues are two fold. One is that I don't really feel like there's anything special about it. I don't like the power uup system very much, it's clunky to quickly nevigate to which one to use and oldest first discarded is annoying. I didn't even realize for a good while that you could use not necessarily the first one. Most of them are not too fun either, and it's werid to have armor and health being paired with weapons. SNES has plenty of buttons and this game doesn't take advantage of that too well.

The recent why this game falls down into bad is the hitboxes. They are way off animations a lot of times. Even for the time, it's very unmipressive and it really kills the experience.

Won a game of Super Soccer. Good riddance, this game sucks. Especially in the second half when you have to go the other way and can't see anything. Also I'm still not sure how to kick the ball the direction I want it to go instead of just straight at an opposing player.

I agree with all that. There is a curser indicating who you pass to. You can swap it but it can also swap on its own. This is a huge nuisance in the second half because it chooses something you can see, that means always backpassing, often to the goalkeeper. I had more success just shooting long and hoping for the best. Most games I won by getting a good lead in the first half and just cheesing the ball away in the second half because yes, it sucks even more in the second half.

Yeah, I don't feel like there's any value to playing the tournament or whatever. If it was more fun to play I would but yeah

I actually got blanked in the first half but somehow managed to score 3 times in the second half lol I couldn't even see what was happening but somehow I ended up wide open thrice

Ctes has beaten Super Mario Land 2: 6 Golden Coins

I just wanted to play something I knew I'd enjoy for a change of pace. This fit that description well without being long either. It's kind of a weak Mario but a weak Mario is still very good and it is leagues ahead of its prequel in the first Super Mario Land. It also introduces a much better mainstay character than the first one in Wario. The last level is easily the best one and I think that's a cold take, but most of it is good. I don't think there are any bad worlds either. The one in the mechanical Mario is probably my favorite except for Wario's castle. I found and beat all secret stages and finished with 99 lives, so it's 100% completion!
