Was definitely old enough when it came out, but my mom was pretty strict about violence. We had Hexen but she hated it. Fast forward to last week, and I bought the Doom collection on Switch. Man this takes me back to 90s PC days. I remember playing Hexen and remembering how smooth everything was. Even Doom still feels like a technical marvel today. And the way the weapons feel are all unique. I love how fast everything moves, and the atmosphere still works.i love how the game looks too. Cant believe it took me this long to get into this series. --- ORAS secret base: http://imgur.com/V9nAVrd 3DS friend code: 0173-1465-1236 ... Copied to Clipboard!

I wouldn't call it timeless. It is definitely dated. The fact that you can't aim up or down alone makes it dated. Not even counting the visuals. Also the objectives and secrets aren't always clear and it is easy to get lost at times. Still a fun game, however. There is no debate for that. --- If you want something done right, do it yourself. Lol what was wrong with post 2 to warrant the rudeish response in post 3. My mom was surprisingly okay with me playing some more violent PC games, I think because I just didn't want anything to do with horror movies and usual satanic stuff and still went to church. It was just other stuff they were really strict on. I remember buying Diablo at Office Max in front of my mom and maybe older brother that is the equivalent I think to someone buying Ultima 8 with a parent and saying I don't want worship the dark arts, I swear. Anyhow there is still an timeless aspect to Doom. Plus on the PC it was easy to mod the hell out of it and by now there is zdoom for things even more advanced than that. Also back then I never prioritized my shots. I didn't know what hit scan targets were till probably the 2000s. Also those were mutants not humans basically. Times are weird. --- "A lesser talent couldn't have pulled it off. But I'm willing to bet on BoJack Horseman. Are you?" ~~Cuddlywhiskers on the new show ... Copied to Clipboard!

I was just about to to revisit that game earlier. I dug out my old CD of Doom Collector's edition. Then I realized my brand new computer doesn't have a disk drive to play the cd! I still have the Doom2.wad available and a lot of old custom .wads that are probably impossible to find now. I haven't tried playing Doom 2 in awhile though. I figure the doom2 wad is basically freeware by this point or maybe GOG has a it free like how ES:Arena or DaggerFall are free. I ripped my Doom2.wad from my actual Windows95 Ultimate Doom copy!!!! I have to post the video with Bill Gates when he was trying really hard to be cool. I somehow carried it along with me most of these years. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6RxM8Ys1vRI I intentionally didn't play the top result, but this is also it too. --- "A lesser talent couldn't have pulled it off. Heck Doom Playstation 1 still holds up well despite being a pre analog stick game. It has an dark ambient vibe with unique lighting. They all don't ofc. If youre playing the remasters on ps4/ps5 theres a lot of mod support for the game. some good, some bad , some that are kinda ??? like I found one called AOL girls it just had a bunch of scantily clad women in the background with some nice music playing in the background. But had to give Doom PSX some love for it being different and good. When I was a kid with no money, I remember saving up forever for a game. When I finally had enough my mom took me to K-Mart and I vividly remember standing in front of the game case trying to choose between Turok and Doom 64. Doom 64 is imo the best of the original style. It marries the creepy dark atmosphere and huge bombastic rooms filled with killing shit very well.
