I have minimal Disney knowledge and it certainly didn't affect my understanding of the KH games' story. Some of the FF stuff definitely makes more sense if you have knowledge of those games though. Okay I guess I will play through 9 and 10 first then. After Googling a bit, kind of bizarre that Disney's main mascot doesn't even have much for movies. A minor scene in Fantasia and Who Framed Roger Rabbit....really? Honestly how does a person even get to know Mickey Mouse as a character --- ~Nintendo 64. Get N or Get out. Coming Fall 1996~ ... I remember asking this same exact question about Final Fantasy characters 15 years ago and getting modded for being "off topic". Honestly for Disney, though, I really don't think you actually need prior knowledge of any of the properties. The situations where it matters are just truncated retellings of the original stories, and anything else is just minor flavor added on the side that doesn't matter. ... Copied to Clipboard!

A lot of the focus gets put on stuff from the Renaissance period and later (basically, starting from Little Mermaid), and there's a heavy influence from Pixar now. When they include older stuff at all, it usually ties into "timeless" older stuff like Snow White or Cinderella. I want to see KH worlds that include Herbie the Love Bug, Bedknobs and Broomsticks, Robin Hood, and Lady and the Tramp. Put The Cat from Outer Space or Maximilian from The Black Hole in Dreamlight Valley. Goofy and Luigi are similar, but get their own side series (Goofy Movie/Goof Troop/Luigi's Mansion). Donald would also probably qualify for that as well with him in Ducktales. ...
